I appreciate the feedback so far guys. In my opnion, things are much the same on the dark side. Three pressure plates snapped in my SV8. And for the record, I avoid big power applications until the clutch is released. The last one snapped out of warranty so I bought a heavy duty GM Truck pressureplate from Wrights Clutches. No more problems. It's all a hell of a hassle. Other less annoying hassles too, relating erratic steering wheel switches, radio clock accuracy, fuel guage accuracy.

What cheeses me off is the PR people who phone up and say: what's the problem? it was fixed under warranty. The problem is that it's no joy being stranded on the roadside and unable to complete a day's work.

I've just checked Carpoint for prices asked for 2003 SV8's. Around $14k. I looked at WRX's in 2003. Prices asked for a 2003 WRX? $28k to $30k. Large car depreciation is now a big hit and it doesn't look like it will get any better. That weighs heavily on my mind. The WRX boot is sorta big enough to carry my tools . . .but the XR6T boot is better. Time for some careful thinking.

If there was no Subaru, I'd buy an XR6T and put up with depreciation and the other issues . . before I'd go front wheel drive. Torque steer YUK! Poor traction YUK! Terminal understeer when accelerating and steering. YUK! My last front wheel drive was my tricycle. Hope to keep it that way.

2.5 years later im still getting the PR ppl ringing me and stuff in the mail for surveys. Funny thing is there always for quality and reliability and to rate the service.

Pls dont buy the current WRX it looks like a daewoo and the Golf Gti is quicker. Really there are better buys then the current WRX.

Nope, don't think there's a relation there. PAH doesn't suffer from 'IHaveaProblemWithUsingTooManyOfTheSmileysDontI?' Syndrome, or to the less educated... 'Smicky Syndrome'

FG internal quality ratings and customer satisfaction levels are the highest they have ever been, so the quality has improved. As with any manufacturer you may have some issues, but there's no such thing as a perfect car. Even the most expensive cars you can buy break down and have faults.

lol - I have to do that on tuesday evening. Ford checks up on new customers to get an idea of their satisfaction with the quality and identify any faults that need rectifying. It makes sense as Ford can only test so many cars, and unfortunately some things can get through the net. Look at toyota at the moment with their Yaris for instance.

Not to be harsh mate but I strongly question whether you're qualified to comment on what happens within QA at Ford. Just because you can't see a tangible difference personally doesn't mean that nothing is done.
