I wouldn't go so far as to say world class - we're well below the mean for our class in the ford world. However its hard to compare between countries - apparently the yanks "perception of quality" revolves around the number of flash gizmos in the car, fit and finish has little influence.

That said the sedan has been comfortably better than the aurion in the customer polls for a few quarters running.

The Orion is the best quality vehicle ever built in this country - simple as that.

I believe the build quality\\ty of the falcons is excellent, what I don't understand is why we don't export them to the USA, surly the average yank would love the turbo compared to some of the rubbish they have over there!!

Old Rev Head.

ps Moderator, I still can't see what I'm typing, any chance of fixing that??

How much would they have to sell for over there to cover freight costs though? Plus I think someone was saying the FG platform is only engineered for RHD, so a re-engineering program would need to be paid for as well.

I do not see how hard it would be to develop the LHD version.

I also do not understand why car makers have not had a global platform for many years.

Worldwide markets are not that different. Last time I checked cars had 4 wheels, motor, and the rest of the bits that make up a car.

I love my FG and had not serious problems aside fromt he brake shudder, that Ford fixed. Well done  on making a world class product, but only letting the Aussies and Kiwi's enjoy them.

P.S old rev head, you are the only person I have heard of with any problem. You may want to choose the "Use full editor" button to post to see if it workes.

I bought a fg xr6t ive clocked up 40000ks now an have only had some minor problems although I would of liked if they did a little more with the interior looks rather cheap. Also since ive had the car wen giving it a bootful off the lights it likes to make you think the rear end is going to seperate from the front with a massive thud ford think that's normal haha.

hmm, this is an old thread.

I now have an 08 FG T and I am very impressed with the car. My only gripe is the external temp readout is always 4 deg below actual temp. I dont care about that though. Ford Oz have fixed about 20 things with this car compared to my 2003 BA Turbo. The fuel economy is awesome consider the vehicle size and power and torque on tap.

Amazable!
