Yeah ive had a few dramas with my falc in warranty and eventually they were all fixed. Its been out for well over a year now and I have not had a problem.I will never change my love of the blue oval. Still enjoy driving my car every time I get in it. So if your not happy. Sell your t and buy a car that DOES NOT support the Aussie car making industry. Remember ppl when its gone it will be gone for good.

I have a work colleague who has a 2006 WRX which just lost its engine, the oil pressure light came on and then moments later awful sounds came from the engine area - he ran dry of oil! Engine is being replaced under warranty.Admittedly my colleague didnt check his oil regularly, last checked September he believes, and he drives it vigorously too. Still, that is dodgy.I have a 2003 BA Falcon Turbo which has had 2 faults:* Heater motor failed - replaced under warranty* wiper squirter motor has failed - fixed, failed again, theyre actually made by Nippondenso. Its a low priority so it remains unfixed at this point in time.Best car Ive owned.
PAH Donating Members 361 Member For: 15y 11m 20d Gender: Male Posted 01/02/09 12:26 PM Author Share Posted 01/02/09 12:26 PM lol - I have to do that on tuesday evening. Ford checks up on new customers to get an idea of their satisfaction with the quality and identify any faults that need rectifying. It makes sense as Ford can only test so many cars, and unfortunately some things can get through the net. Look at toyota at the moment with their Yaris for instance. For the guys who want to know if I'm related to Smokey -why? Are you related the the BANDIT. Doesn't sounds right to me. The BANDIT's car didn't have a Blue Oval. And who's bitching about my lack of smiley faeces? Modern quality practices do not rely on inspecting out DUDS. They don't have to inspect every car. They use statistical analysis to understand and control variation. The Yanks under the guidance of Walter Shewhart and W Edwards Deming used Statistical Process Control methods during WW2 to improve the quality of wartime equipment (nothing worse than a bullet that doesn't go bang when you need it to). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_chartDeming introduced these techniques to the Japanese in the 1950's. Some (most?) of the Jap Car Co's have reduced variation to the extent that they can do things like drop any piston into any bore . . . and they fit!! Before that, pistons had to be matched to bores to avoid rattly engines. When variation is predictable and within limits, there are less irritations for customers. Toyota is No. 1 now. How did that happen? Customer satisfaction I guess.http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...f=0&IsPgd=0Have you seen this web site?. http://www.pistonslap.com/ PAH

Sure I have had some quality control type things fixed under warranty but this happens with every brand of car at some point and these are nothing that threatens the actual reliability of the car usually.I cant ever remember being let down ( as in left on the side of the road) by any Ford in 20 years of driving. What in particular have you found that is so unreliable IB? Edited 01/02/09 12:46 PM by craiginmackay

Its gearbox synchro's were useless at anything but a double declutch, and even then notchy, the engine backfired out the air filter under load occasionally. and the frameless door sounded like they broke everytime you slammed them to try and shut them. the engine wouldn't idle occasionally and it wore out tyres at a phenomenal rate.We had a 2000 Liberty that had even more issues I wouldn't dare bore you further with. These two must not be representative of Subaru vehicles because other people are perfectly happy..Anyway I have already bored you to death but my personal opinion is that the latest Falcon is at least equal to the quality of any japanese vehicle ( much better than Toyotas particularly the Aurion and Camry )We benchmarked all the relevant mid size SUV's on the market at Fords facility and found the worst culprits were BMWs for quality issues. I personally believe the majority of quality issues are percieved by an owner. For instance I have known people with Toyota's to tell me they car has been perfect, although it has left them stranded on multiple occasions and cost thousands in repairs.. work that out! Some of the have NO issues at all and are the perfect picture of reliability and low maintenance motoring. Many others, though, constantly cause headaches with oil leaks, poor quality rubber and plastics, an appetite for CV boots, tyres and suspension bushes, as well as many, many sensor faults. Now I know WRX is not perfect, my cousin has to regularly add oil otherwise it would run dry (2003 60.000 km) and not to mention their gearboxes. So maybe those granny driven Subarus are doing well but I really don't think WRX is one of them. When it comes to ford, I got a BA MKII and besides few small issues it has been pretty good and FG should be a lot better again. Ford build quality might not be the best in the market but that doesn't make them unreliable. Just look at taxis, half a million km with no problems. Sure they feel like wheels are about to fall off but they are still going. Edited 02/02/09 03:25 AM by dule

Fit and Finish and reliability are seperate issues......one relates to the quality of the finish and the other the engineering.I've had very little dramas in the 30,000klms ive clocked up in my BF2 Typhoon. Mind you the car comes standard with some solvent burns from the factory, and the doors are hung great and there are a few rattles.....the diff bushings need replacing too. However, its never shat itself and left me stranded (happened in past new Alfa and Mazda 6 I've owned when the gearbox lunched itself) and the performance and capability these cars have mean that you can handle the niggles. Just means you will have to do some little projects yourself to sort little issues out. No big deal if you are a car bloke.......if you are a car as an appliance person then maybe a Honda would better suit.
