Guest Guests Posted 02/02/09 02:15 AM Share Posted 02/02/09 02:15 AM They can stick their 90 days up their arse & the December deadline for XCAL2. Once my box is rendered useless I'll be using Sniper.SCT=

Thanks to Rob & Charlie.Things that remain un-answered are:a) Phase out period for XCAL1b) Swap over arrangement from XCAL1 to XCAL3 c) Mechanism for moving existing custom tunes from XCAL1 to XCAL3I strongly beleive that legitimate owners of XCAL1 should be provided with XCAL3 swap over at no cost, given that this phase out is being performed in these exceptional circumstances solely to assure SCT revenue stream. Also existing custom tunes on XCAL1 need a mechanism to move to XCAL3, so that they are not lost.I also suggest that SCT products are sold with "end of life" date to ensure that this is known to the end consumer upon product purchase, rather than a nasty surprise at some random time. Software gets pirated all the time but software companies don’t just turn off their software they produce new and make it harder to pirate, eventually people will have to buy that software as times move on, but the old software still works.Other items like VCR turned into DVD which turned into Bluray, TV’s with Picture Tubes turned into Plasma which turned into LCD, all the previous technologies still work, not as good as new technology, but still work. The x-cal 1 & 2 they are older models, they still work, maybe they don’t offer the same features as the x-cal 3, but they ARE still usable.I see there are many options you could have took, that as a Customer I would be willing to accept more, than “just too bad, upgrade”. *There could have been a 3-6month warning period with some sort of buy back scheme or a reduced price if you produce the old unit in that time frame, customers would see you are trying to resolve the situation with there needs in mind, but still doesn’t help if their flash programs are in the old unit though.*You could offer the tuners some sort of kick back for reducing the price or include transfer with the purchase of the x-cal 3, giving the customer their old flash programs and a new unit, making it more inviting to upgrade.*You could produce a new code that wipes off the five lives (that seems to be the problem starter), giving the customer the opportunity to purchase that instead of a new unit and publicize your going stop all the resetting of boxes so the customer know they will have to upgrade if something should happen to it.That’s just three options, all involve you still making money while trying to keep the customer happy, not loosing your reputation or leaving a huge hole in the market, your competitors are going fill and at the same time they will be learning from your big mistake. That’s what you have fail to see here, if the money and turn over is the problem you can still make money out of this situation without loosing the your existing customers and making new customers think twice.I’m a very concerned Potential Customer, just one, I would hate to think how many more Potential Customers are thinking the same way.I was only weeks from buying the x-cal 3 without giving another product a second thought, now I’m thinking what else it out there!!
