so I sent this one to Charlie

We are a young family of 4 ( 2 kids - 5yo girl & 12 yo boy who both adore the car with its mods) We have been saving frantically for the next round of mods and a retune to go with it. My husband works in the building trade as as you can imagine $$'s are hard to come by with the whole situation. While I understand your company's issue with some dealers it really does seem unfair to cut us off. We feel we have been penalized for chosing your product over the competitors, we could have just of easily got a sniper box which if not for the recommendation to our tuner and his endorsement of your product we would have.

Charlie I am sure you are not unreasonable and hope that some kind of arrangement can be made with those workshops that have been faithful and done the right thing.

thought I'd just go with a nice pm from the "other site" to which I got following response..

Hi D.

I'll be adding a post on this forum in a few minutes to give some ideas of where SCT stands at this moment.

Thank you for supporting our product and you local dealers.

Charlie

I feel..... very much lagg.... no :funnydance: here

everyone with nerd friends get them on to this now, if you can crack 2008 Civilcad, Surpac 6.14 etc, then you can surely crack a simple tuning program...

any one interested in a sniper group buy.

it was only 6 months ago I upgraded from my xcal 1 to an xcal 2, that's 1900 dollars spent on hardware alone. now I have to spend a nother grand on hardware to allow my tuner to tune my car again, sorry not going to happen,

the only thing I can see working is a heafty trade in when purchasing the xcal3.

IM REALLY PISSED ABOUT THIS.

my sig will soon read, e6x tuned by the hitman.

it is crap but as I said after speaking to fair trading they say the first point of recourse is the person who sold you the box

so what do we do all start sh*t fights with our tuners ,I dont think that's goin to help ?

I just wanted to add my voice to the growing rumble of anger that you are surely going to recieve from all your users in Australia. The practice that your company has employed whilst right on some merits is an absolute joke. The need to protect your software and your revenue stream is undestandable but to do so at the cost of alianating every past customer of your product is not just downright stupid but also borderline illegal!

One of two things is going to happen now.

1)I either throw my xcal unit in the bin, and purchase a product from one of your many competitors. Or

2) I will glady post my Xcal unit to your offices and in return you will send me a XCAL-3 free of charge. I do not wish to be bitten twice when dealing with a company and the questionable ethics your company has choosen to employ mean I will not be buying a xcal3 unit at all!

Your offer to others of regret and understanding is useless, almost as useless as my xcal unit, so you can save me that. Your hope that we continue to support our local dealers and distributors is a dream. That dream is up to you and the way you choose to rectify the situation.

Disapointed,

Nicholas Mullen

I can see where SCT are coming from, they are still a business and they saw their business to be loosing potenial money. I think the way they have handled everything is shocking, a good business would have put steps into place to start to phase out flash 1, then after that start phasing out flash 2, then introduce their new product. This still would have kicked up a big fuss but would have been taking alot better than what they have done. If they phased out their products over time, they may still have some customers left but what they have done, surely they will end up with very little customers if any. It also comes down to, they are still the best product for our car, even better than $3000 + stand alone ECUs, and SCT know it. So basically they can do what they like cause they know they have the best bang for buck ecu for our cars. I hate to say it but if this does not get sorted, I will have to buy one for my car as I cant see anything on the market doing a better job.

I do agree with previous comments though, an exchange or change over for the old box + a bit of money would have been good. Im sure many people would have taken that oppertunity and swapped over to the new xcal3. I guess its a case of watch this thread.

Andrew

I dont think people have access to the tuning programs and do not know what they are, or else people would have tried already.
