Hmm well its food for thought, really want a manual so might wait till push comes to shove and see how the prices are going on the different versions.

Hi mate I am a older member and aiboart is dead right I could not of said it better,see if you can have a drive of a manual and have a drive of an auto and drive it in sports mode and manual mode [have you ever driven one] and I recon you will make the right descision ,my car has done over 100000km all over nsw with some sprited driveing [not thrashing] and I have had no trouble at all, in fact I have had a look at new turbo fg and have decided to keep my current car it has all the extra,s some that are not on fg,s if you can get one with the premium sound ,sun roof leather trim etc you could not go wrong,in the end its your decision ,get what you want and enjoy it mine is a 2004 B A good luck mate....................................... :thumbsup: ..................misty..................................

I drove both and considered them both.

After all I ended up getting a stock XT

I don't think the N/A XR6 is worth the premium over a base XT

The turbo probably is worth it for some people, just not for me

get the mk11 manual...the 6sp is way better in every way of the 5sp.

Not a real lot of price difference anymore with the way the used car market has dropped in the arse recently.

I just recently bought a 2005 XR6T MkII 6 speed manual with a tune and its possibly the best thing iv owned apart from my good old TV..

personally with the way the market is atm, car prices r coming down so its best if u hold in there a little longer and buy yourself a decent XR6T MK II 6 speed manual. I promise it will NOT!!! disappoint u my friend

My wife and I went through something simular last year, just prior to christmas. We wanted to upgrade from our 2001 AU into something newer and a little bit more sporty. We wanted something with good k's and no older than a 05 build. We shopped around and saw a few BF XR6 mostly 4 speed auto's with 1 or 2 6 speed auto's. We found an 07 Turbo ex police was with low k's but were scared off the ex police and the flogging it may have copped.

My preference was a turbo, I hope I dont upset anyone/start a all in war but in my opinion the XR6 NA is a tarted up XT and if your going to buy something, then get the real deal. We ended up with an July 05 BA II XR6T with 37,000 4 speed and I am so glad we got the turbo. Colour was not exactly what we were after, the car is Blaze but it had pretty much everything else we were after. Besides the colour has grown more on us.

I know it's not a BF and it's not a 6 speed but it had the right k's and service records, privately owned and looks very clean. We are going to leave it standard as I use my bike to have some real fun.

First thing we did was engine, transmisssion oil and filters and I will get the diff done next week.

One question I would like to ask is about the larger trans coolers. I know cooling the oil helps the life of the 4 speed. Where do you get them from, how much do they cost and are they easy enough to fit.

Thanks for any help and I hope I dont start any kind of wars with my comments on the NA.

In short reply Mark S as I dont want to hijack this thread... but im about to buy a transcooler also... most guys run the Heavy Duty PWR brand, about $150 at Repco, Supacheap or alike and money well spent! Apparently easy to fit (just do a search on transcooler) but I will be getting my tuner to fit mine when he does the intercooler. Hope this helps! :spoton:

I have to say that since I have had my 05 BA2 T, I haven't had a day of trouble with it. 95k's on the clock and even though I have kept it "stock", it has been a real pleasure. In fact I am in a predicament as I have to sell it now and I really don't want to! Have to get into a 4WD for towing the new caravan (no way I was going to tow with the T) ...what would the going rate be for an 05 BA2 Turbo...it is yellow with premium sound and leather. Stunning condition and 11 months rego?
