new to the forum looking at buying a ba xr6t ute in the nxt few months and have a few Qs

first off all ill intorduce myself

im from sa drive a my95 wrx before that I had an ef wagon which I spent heaps on and loved it looking to get back into a ford

I know nothing about the ba's

like the wrx when I brought it, I did my home work found out things like some wrx models had bigger turbos or others had better interiors and drive lines etc

so basicly wanting to know the same with the xr6t utes. ive seen some have a 5spd and some a 6spd, were there any differances with turbos/engines/power/driveline/interior etc im looking at the BA range dont think I could afford a BF

cheers guys

that's a lot to ask in one post......

I suggest you start with the topic you most want to know about and start reading my friend and go from there.

There is so much to know about these cars, and if someone can be bothered doing a huge write up, well good on them :fishin:

Oh and

ps dont get a BA, BF after 06/06 with a ZF is the way to go but you will figure that out :pics:

If you are looking at the BA range then they are pretty much identical, The only thing you want to avoid is the 5 speed manual. They are the weakest gearbox and prone to failure.

Mk11 only had a few cosmetic upgrades over the mk1 and had slightly stronger valve springs then the mk1

The 4 speed auto is good till about 300 rwkw then you really need to strengthen it and then its still a hit and miss on how long it lasts. The 6 speed manual (+clutch) and 6 speed auto (bf) are pretty much bulletproof.

The BF's (after 06/06) have stronger engine internals, meaning you can push more power out of them if you need to

turbos are the same accross the board.

if your interested in 1/4 mile times.. buy an auto its piss easy to get one to run an 11 but its fn hard to get a manual in the 12's

cheers for that itec, I recon I will look for an auto

as far as the BA xr6t motors go are they pritty relible? I understand the bf had a stronger bottom end

I drive a 95 wrx and most wrx owners will tell you theve done a few boxes. mine is still the factory unit so that tells me I dont really flog it lol

cheers

Hi all driving a BF 05 Turbo. Awesome car  only I noticed when taking off in 1st gear (T56 6spd man.) it has a slight vibration kind of a noise and it clears when I get up to about 2500rpm. I could be over analysing the whole thing but was wondering if anybody had noticed this with their manual cars. It kind of sounds like the noise when you say turn round a round about in 3rd with revs lowish and take off. Ive tried taking off at different revs in 1st gear to see if it goes away. :dontknow:
