They are the weakest gearbox and prone to failure. Mk11 only had a few cosmetic upgrades over the mk1 and had slightly stronger valve springs then the mk1The 4 speed auto is good till about 300 rwkw then you really need to strengthen it and then its still a hit and miss on how long it lasts. The 6 speed manual (+clutch) and 6 speed auto (bf) are pretty much bulletproof. The BF's (after 06/06) have stronger engine internals, meaning you can push more power out of them if you need toturbos are the same accross the board. if your interested in 1/4 mile times.. buy an auto its piss easy to get one to run an 11 but its fn hard to get a manual in the 12's Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53984-newbie-xr6t-qs/#findComment-812107 Share on other sites

I understand the bf had a stronger bottom endI drive a 95 wrx and most wrx owners will tell you theve done a few boxes. mine is still the factory unit so that tells me I dont really flog it lolcheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53984-newbie-xr6t-qs/#findComment-812114 Share on other sites

Awesome car only I noticed when taking off in 1st gear (T56 6spd man.) it has a slight vibration kind of a noise and it clears when I get up to about 2500rpm. I could be over analysing the whole thing but was wondering if anybody had noticed this with their manual cars. It kind of sounds like the noise when you say turn round a round about in 3rd with revs lowish and take off. Ive tried taking off at different revs in 1st gear to see if it goes away.
