Norrrs,Not sure if you are responding to my post. But it is clear Mr Dodson used the opportunity of Australian of the year to promote a political agenda. Not sure whether this represents the overall view of indigenous Australia or not

It's opportunistic which ever way you want to see it, and not necessarily astute behaviour from someone who has just recieved

one, if not Australia's highest national honour. Wrong time ,wrong stage. Looks like sour grapes , which doesn't help the cause of the native population.

To put the PM on the spot during an acceptance speech ( and I am not a Rudd fan) hardly reeked of a quality move did it ?

wow that is very narrow minded miss informed oppinion.

ps In my oppinion normally when someone starts with the comment, "im not racist but....", they actually are racist.

Win what exactly ??? Mabo( Keating ),the sorry speech from Rudd, the banning of alcohol and porn ( Howard). These were landmark decisions.

Come on, if you have nothing to say don't say anything,I may well have forgotten something and will take my flaming as appropriate :gaypost:

Um the porn ban, makes of an interesting interstate trip when you enter the restricted areas and then realise you have a laptop with quite a substantial collection sitting on the back seat.

"sorry officer I have no idea how those mpegs got on my hard drive" :spit:

Back on topic, Last time I checked Australia day was for all citizens not just one racial group. If the indigenous population want a day to celebrate their culture I am all for it, but keep your hands off 26th of Jan.
