hey im a new proud owner of a FG xr6t, I opted to just go for the standard audio system and thought id just upgrade the speakers and add a sub.

I am looking at the following system:

Rockford Fosgate T1 12" sub

Rockford Fosgate 6" Power series coaxials x 2 (front and rear)

Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 audio processor

Jaycar Response mono block amp

Jaycar Response 4x50w amp

If I didnt get the premium audio, is there still a place to put a tweeter if I got splits for the front? or would I have to cut a hole for them? if I dont have to cut anything out I would opt to put a set of spilts in the front (say a set of pioneer) and just have the coaxial in the rear.

The budget I was working on was about $2.5k all up including install. The reason for the jaycar amps is because I got access to very cheap pricing for them which makes them unreal value for money.

Your opinions of the system im thinking of?

Ha ha phantm - again thx mate, but how u know I was learking in here just now?

 - you really think I live here? hehehe im starting to think so...

Ok, Jaycar amps while 'generally' being not to bad bang for buck - would never been my recommendation for any 'half serious' audio enthusiast... Doing a budget setup for maybe 1000$ then maybe wack one in mums laser or excel, but if your considering RF gear, I guess you have some interest in hearing nice well rounded reproduction of the recording on the CD... The Jaycar amps are by no means BAD just not what I would think you would seriously want to run a set of RF's on...

I also get Jaycar gear cheap, as an account holder with Electus - but would rather keep the 150$ for the 4ch 50W Responce and spend a bit more on a Pioneer or something...

So first lets see what you have got the right idea with...

RF speakers are not a bad driver - very much liked by a lot of car audio installers... (Sorry sicklaser I have to say I disagree with your comment "they are poo")... As I always say - speakers and sound is a personal choice... Your ears, music and the way you like to hear it all come together is "PERSONAL"... Listen to a 5000$ set of speakers, like a set of seas, and some of their models I personally believe dont sound anywhere near as nice as a set of 500$ pioneers... But I prefer a pair of Focals at 5000$ over both...

its all personal choice - just make sure that if you do like RF's DD, that you have had a good listen to them for longer then 5 mins - make sure that the source (cd player etc) is set to flat and not running any bass or treble tone levels and make sure YOU LISTEN TO YOUR CD'S!

So for the rears yes the T162C will be fine... assuming this is the model you are looking at...

For the fronts maybe look at the T162S - Splits in the front are almost always the best idea to run with...

Just remember 'music' is typically a 2 ch recording - and when you listen to music at home, or even at a concert its up the front - also as the driver your in the front - so keep in mind the rears only really need to be 'rear fill' speakers - unless you looking to run the system in SPL comps - in which case look at adding an extra 0 on to the end of the 2500$ you want to spend...

The 4x 50 w amp from Jaycar wont be strong enough to run the T162C in any case - you need to better match the speakers/amp...

The 162C is a 75w RMS speaker at 4ohms, so you want to have at least a 80w+ amp rated at 4ohm (RMS)...

The 162S are 100w RMS... so again if you were to go with these are the fronts, make sure the AMP is well able to power the speakers with true and clean RMS power - 125w RMS would be the starting point for a split such as this...

360 - :bopp: nothing needed to be added to that - right idea with the 360!

Sub - assuming your talking about the T112D(2/4) - I would recommend a 10" rather then a 12" - if you are going for a punchy sound - get a 10" and get the box tuned correctly!

Sub amp - again the response amp wont have the balls to power this sub - its a 1000WRMS amp @ 1ohm...

Depending on your method of wiring the sub (dual VC) the sub is rated as a 4ohm x2 600WRMS... therefor again you will need an amp that will be able to power this with CLEAN RMS Power...

Dont forget for 2500$ you not only need to buy all the right gear above, but infact you will need wiring kits, sub box, would also recommend cap, and sound matting...

Might want to reconsider the value of your system, or the gear you are looking to use...

Hope this helps... I will have a 'rough' 5 mins wacked together list of possible models for a 2000$ -/+ system up here for you and jackkk who was asking yesterday...

Mind you if you are looking at RF gear, im guessing you might want something a little better...

Cheers for the heads up, so im probably better off going for a lesser sub to allow more cash for better amps. Or I could just skip replacing the rear speakers which would then cut out one set of speakers and id only need a 2ch amp.

2 questions, are splits easy to put in the front of an FG falcon and whats the advantage of using Caps?

Mate - I would still prob use a set of rears, it will give you a 'rear fill' and help create a better environment in the car, however spending 500$ on a set of rears for a 2000$ setup is a totally waste of money... something for around 150$ would be enough in most cases... Will also help to keep the back seat drivers happy instead of just taking the piss out of you if you take a wrong turn...

cap will help the system amp smoother and give a cleaner power source to the amps - in turn helping the amps produce a cleaner sound to the speakers as well... Required - no, recommended - if your going to be running a heavy sub/amps, good added extra - yes...

Again if your talking about RF gear, you might want to look at $$$ around the $3000+ mark for a good system...

Here is something I just wrote for jackkk:

  Quote
Just a quick idea of something you could consider...

Fronts: Pioneer TS-D1720C Car Speakers $296.95

Rears: Clarion SRQ1630R 6" Car Speakers $87.95

Sub: Boston G210-44 10" Subwoofer $277.20

Amp - speakers: Pioneer GM-6300F Car Amplifier 4 Channel $231.55

Amp - Sub: Pioneer GM-D8400M Mono Car Amplifier $305.05

Wiring kit: Aerpro AP963 1200W Dual Amp Wiring Kit 2/8ga $229.95

Speaker cable: Stinger SWX16BLU2 Blue Comp Spk Wire 16ga P/Mtr $7.49 20* $149.80

Total:

$1,578.45

Line convertor/tuning box: RF 360.1 - $400

Sub box: Sub box - $120

Matting: Sound Matting - $300

Rough idea of costing - $2398.45

Pricing may not be correct - as they were just ripped off a few internet based car audio stores - like ryda and caraudio warehouse. But it will give you some idea of what you may get for around 2400$ which will not be a bad setup...

the speakers are just picked as no preference - IMO Pioneer have always produced a good set of splits at a reasonable price. rears are just a average coax for rear back fill - sub is a nice sub for under 400$ and the amps to match..

this is literally a 5mins slapped together system, and at no point have a looked into all the component specs etc... however it should be matched well...

Oh forgot to add in - bottle of grey goose - 80$, 2 pizza's and a few cans of coke, 1 trip to mcdonalds for a choc sundai, and a 3 yrs suspension to your license for getting court drink driving for being a dumb fark and not getting someone else to drive you to mcdonalds... but hey at least you will have a nice system in your car! :bopp::laughing: hehehe

Let me know what you are seriously looking at getting out of the system and I can try to help a bit better...

Mate, depends on the amp and other gear you end up running...

But 1fadar around the $200 make should be enough... again depends what you are running...
