if youve got your car booked in to have professionals diagnose and fix the problem, why ask us?

If the shops were open when Hiddeous suggested the fuel filter issue he could've possibly fixed it himself today, cancelled his booking and saved himself some coin??

That's one of the many purposes of the forum isn't it?

:yikes:

fuel filter first but if that dont fix it check your battery because if its on the way out it can cause the problems you are talking about and the fact you said its slow to start after sitting for a few days makes me think that may be the cause of your problems

This forum is always a good place to start as even the workshops out there havent seen as many xr6ts as this forum has. Sometimes it can be an easy fix or even something oddball that took ages for someone to find. Good luck San hope its something simple and before you go to your tuner make sure tank is under half so they dont have to drain some if they do pull pump out.

I think he means it cranks over fine but wont fire like its losing fuel pressure after shutting engine down for a while.

even so engine can crank at an almost normal speed with an almost dead battery but the voltage drop across the battery will cause the cars computer and sensors to operate outside their designed voltage inturn causing the starting issues

same as high rpm under load if the batterys on the way out it can cause problems as well not saying its the first thing id look at but worth a look

Yeah that's what I meant, (Again thank Matt). I only got the battery changed a few months back when I got my stage 2.5 kit so that's pretty much new....

Thanks to the ppl that stayed on topic and helped me out and definately made other ppl aware of the possible things that can go wrong with the symptons my car is having...:stickpoke:

cheers,

San.

Hey guyz,

Ok, update on my car:

Call Autobarn first thing in the morning and I was rapt to find out they were open on a Public Holiday till 3:30pm!!

So, my brother and I go and to get a z373 Fuel Filter. It was a straight forward change over and within 10 mintues we were off for a quick test drive but only to find out it was still holding back on Full boost!! :pooh:

We kept our cool and within seconds we started to work on the Fuel Pump and to our amusement this is what we dicvoer!!!

A split hose on the walbro fuel pump!! Itec you were spot on! :roflmbo:

BENTPIPE.jpg

Now, we wernt happy to discover that a "Radiator overflow tank Hose was used" when "THEY" (%^^&&&) should have used a proper Fuel Hose!!

It also looked like the Hose was too long hence the bent pipe above....

You can see the difference between using a proper Fuel hose compared to a Radiator (Mackay) Hose.

Clamped the new hose on and off it went back to its location..:)

After fitting the Fuel Pump and the other bits and pieces back together, we crank up the car and "BINGO" in a flash she was firing wihtout any Hesitations!

Trying not to get overly excited we both jump in the car and within seconds we were on the Freeway ......:)

Now the moment of truth, I give it and SHE RESPONDS! YAY:):):) SHE YELLS and SCREAMS onto FULL BOOST....Oh the adrenalin was pumping again! We high five eachtoher and IT was all good again. :)

Got home cleaned up the mess, had a shower and am now watching the cricket and enjoying the long weekend...:)

All in all, I will STILL be taking my car to Spingy Performance in the morning to make sure its all cool on the Dyno but the MAIN point im trying to make here is that it goes to show and prove how important and helpful these Forums can be and if I hadnt posted up this topic I wouldnt be in this situation today!!

It has saved me $$$ and the fact working on your own car gives me so much satisfaction....

Once again thanks to everyone that helped me though this dilemma. :spoton:

Over and out..

San.

It's gonna burst again! That hose is not rated as submersible. The only submersible hose I know of is Gates and its SAE R310.

I can tell you from experience it will last around 2-6 months depending on the fuel you use, then start to miss again.

The radiator hose will do do just as good if not better than the GOSS hose you replaced it with.

I always use Mobil 8000.... I guess I better change the hose within a few months if it's gonna burst again...

But yeah, The Radiator Hose only lasted me 3-4months...
