He just bought it from auction and after stopping for fuel on the way home from picking it up, when he tried to restart it the car it wouldn't. NRMA came out and changed the battery to a new one, problem should have been solved or so you would think. The car has to be jump started and won't do it off the new battery. He went for a two hour drive today (after jumping it) and when he switched it off when he got home and tried to instantly restart it, again it wouldn't restart. The car goes to reds but the electric windows won't move and the CD player won't go on. Does anyone have any ideas where the problem may be? Again sorry not a Turbo question but it's kinda annoying. If it doesn't make a good earth it'll be likely to cause similar problems. If there's alot of corrosion, take the terminals off and get a circular file and file the inside of the clamps, run a wire brush over the terminals, and then grease the terminals or get some of the terminal protector spray.Could also be alternator as was said.Check the voltage of the battery when standing and when running. should be around 12V when standing, and 14Vodd when running. We had NRMA come out and check the battery, it wasn't doing all the things a good little battery should despite being brand new. It was replaced for free with a new battery (as it should have been too) and all runs smoothly...for a Gen 4. It's a shame Ford doesn't have a decent LWB vehicle anymore, I could see Ford selling a few LWB cars if they had at least an XR8/6T rather then the pissy G220. dmosconi Member 97 Member For: 17y 3m 18d Gender: Male Location: Perth WA Posted 27/01/09 07:55 AM Share Posted 27/01/09 07:55 AM Check Alternator, Battery clamps are tight, with no battery acid build up, check the alternator main fuse these protect the battery from overcharging and sometimes blow when the battery get replaced-not sure where it is on Holdens generally with head light relays under the bonnet.Hope it helps.
