It's summer & we've had a handful of pretty hot days - with more to come.

I've heard the turbo isn't too happy with the really hot weather so I was wondering if any T owners have noticed any unusual behaviour. ie. rough idling, loss of power, etc.

Nothing unusual my end MavSS. Seems to run the same pretty much constantly.

Hot days Cold nights haven't noticed a pitance of a differents, it just get's better and better every time i drive it.

Would be good to see a dyno comparison between the different conditions.

I do not think there will be a noticable loss in power or torque because of the intercooler. Take away the intercooler, well that's a different story. I had a VL Turbo and when it was hot, well a drop of 5 to 10% in power was noticed. Intercoolers dramatically change this. Hope this helps.

I haven't noticed any problems at all. I drove out west over Christmas, and it was really hot! The only thing I noticed is that the Thermo fans seem to come on quite a bit, and also while driving.. but I think that was more to do with the AC being on most of the time.

No Power loss at all

Same here. Lots of additional fan work. I think you would have to be really giving it to it to notice anything at all. Both Wheels and Motor noted variances of 0.1 - 0.5 secs due to heat, but they were pushing the cars to the limits.

Did you guys read the article (I think it was Motor magazine a few months back), where they took the XR6T mule into the outback for durability testing? They deliberately gave it hell - blocked the entire intercooler with tape, drove it in such a manner as to maximise the engine temperature (frequent large load on engine), etc. and it came out admirably! :)

Might do some digging tonight and scan it for those interested...

Hot air is half the battle, the other half depends on what fuel goes into her. Optimax for me, had no probs

You know the deal,

Good fuel + cool air =

Poor fuel + cool air = :blank:
