Exactly what I do.

Arrive to destination, while foot is on the brakes still, put it into Neutral and let the brakes take the strain, then rip up the handbrake, take off the brakes, then put it into Park. Takes all the pressure off the gearbox and doesn't give you that nice CLUNK when you go into drive.

Love your work

Cant stand ppl who put the car in park with their foot on the brake, put the hand brake on then release the brakes. 9 time out of 10 the car will move slightly forward.

Ive had to teach my Missus to do it the right way.

Found the issue!

snapped the centre top bolt that holds the diff in! freaky

so were gonna replace all the diff bolts, just to be safe, then straight to ford the got this sh*tty handbrake fixed, I cant believe how crap the handbrake is you can drive normal with it fully engage and it dosnt do a single thing, not even a hint of the shoes scuffing at all

Mine is the same mate. No drag, nothing.

Make sure whoever you take it to does the correct fix for the handbrake.

It's not just a matter of tightening the cable as it'll stretch again soon and you'll be back to square one.

The proper way to do it involves taking the shoes out and machining them so the surface is flat again or something like that.

There are some threads on here about it, have a search and save yourself some heartache.

I do the same neutral brake off let the car move then park if I remember. Got a habit of leaving it in neutral though.

Adjust the handbrake by taking the back wheels off and pulling the little rubber plugs out the back disc then winding up the little screw thingys in there. Bit of a c#nt job if you aint done it before.

hmmm I could understand one broken housing bolt causing it, if it was the only one there lol jj. it sounds more like a diff problem...ive been through my fair share of diffs, tailshafts, gearboxes and clutches (mind you, none of them were rated for the power) and the whining and clunking definately sounds like teeth have gone walking( my car sounded like a train). I would fix the h-brake, replace the bolts and check the plug for teeth at the same time...and if hes been stupid enough to do reverse burnouts I would check the pinion nut(yes...I was stupid one time)lol :hiall:
