Hey, me mate has a BA XR6T, 4 Speed Auto.

Everytime he parks on a hill, his handbrake dont work, like at all! so when ya get back in the car and select dsay D or R it makes a bit of a clunk from the park pin

however, tonight, it made a really loud one as it released and now he has a clunk in the rear

mainly when selecting gears, and driving, like loading it up, clunks in the rear a few times, and also backing off does the same, also has a mad whine in the rear now.

Please help!

if its got no handbrake,, when it park it will put pressure on the gear.. hence the noise when changing from park..

been trying to teach the girl about this ,I have a habit now when I pull up put on hand brake select N let the brake take the weight of the car then put it in park ,stops that horrible clunk when trying to get out of park ,

sounds like a gear tooth somewhere has taken all the weight of the car and didn't like it

I really should get my handbrake fixed....

It literally has no effect anymore so the pin is all that's holding my car back from ending up in the neighbors loungeroom >_<
