IMO that's a rip, they are charging full max retail for everything possible !! they are giving you more for your car to make up for it but its still not that good a price IMO.. that's more than I paid for my F6 as well !!

I've just taken delivery of my new FG F6 for a little under $62k so I'd suggest looking at G6ET or a demo F6 if you can find one.

Thanks for the advice fellas, got my dealer looking for a G6ET, the missus didnt want Auto, but tough bickies.

Anybody want to pick up a XR6T BFII (Aug 07 build) with protection pack, luxury pack, 17" wheels with 17" mag spare, ego in colour, & a little under 60,000 country km's on the clock, for the trade in price just give me a yell.

If this is against forum policy, just delete the second bit but leave the thanks, & sorry!

I think he's added a little extra to the cost of the car to make up the difference. What are people picking these up for 2nd hand? Mines still got a year to run on warranty, which is all you get on a used car anyway, from my understanding. Being out in the middle of nowhere I havent got alot of options!

I thought there was a recession, & they would want to trade a bit more!!

He has simply matched the payout on your car to make the deal look attractive. $29,000 on a BFII with 60 on the clock is retail, so trade is really $23K at best.

If you told them you owed nothing on your car, they would have offered $23K on the trade (nothing to match to make you more/less interested) and discounted the new car by the $6K. Then they just hope $23k is fair enough in your eyes.

To test them, pick a well priced used car from the lot and see if you still get $29K trade. Or get a price for the T from another dealer with no trade and then see if this current dealer will even come close to that price. In both cases they won't.

It all starts with you owing $29K. If they say your car is worth $23K to them, then you are automatically $6K in the hole in your mind. Makes it very difficult for them to sell you anything - you are $6K behind. But if they match your payout in your mind you are even. You then pay close to retail on the new car, so you are OK in your mind but really you are $6K in the hole as the dealer down the road (or even this dealer) would have done the new car for $6K less if you weren't trading. All in the numbers.

Cheers

Dan

exactly what ^^ said..

its all about what the dealer appears to be giving you..

prime example is a Tool at my work.. knows fark all about fark all when it comes to anything that requires street smarts, negotiating etc..

had a sh*tbox lancer worth about $9-10k absolute max privately... decided he was going to play hardball and demanded the dealer give him $10k tradein for it on a Mazda SP23...

dealer of course rubbed his hands with glee and said sure we'll give you $10k and then sold him the SP23 at full RRP + dealer delivery + metallic paint.. basically all the things no one pays for really.. then took him to the hottie accessory chick that every dealer has... $4000 later in paint/fabric/tyre/rust protection, window tint, wind deflectors, extended warranty, floor mats etc etc all at RRP.. he walked away thinking he'd made a great deal cause he got $10k for his lancer hahaha.. and he did finance thru the dealer as well haha

whenever I talk costs with dealers I always make sure its a changeover figure that includes stamp duty etc as that's really the only figure that matters.... I dont care if they give me $50 for my car as long as the car im buying costs the amount of changeover im looking at.
