Posted 22/01/09 06:23 AM Share Posted 22/01/09 06:23 AM Just ordered an XR6T Manuel Ute in Nitro, no options as I dont have an ipod and paid extra on my GPS for bluetooth. Will do my own stereo and not really keen on the 18" wheels and heard the 19s ruin the ride. Would have liked leather but know I would regret it 20mins after delivery in Queensland heat, just like I regret my leather lounge at home. All up $39450 Drive away including the after sale sucker pack for tinting and protections. Thoughts? Id like to know as ive not left any kind of down payment, good deal? I didn't get the $3000 cash back as its a new build and I enquired before and after Jan 1st and the prices across the motor industry have jumped 2%. A mate at a honda bike dealership backed that up. Could have got a cheaper 08 plate but not in nitro/manual and most have a $1000 XR pack which I dont want. But only $1500 cheaper tops.

At the end of the day, with what some would argue a poor quality product, with extremely bad after sales support, raising the prices of their cars by 2% is not going to help them win any sales races.Poor quality? that's what they do down at Fishermans Bend. FG quality is on par with the Aurion at the moment (that's a quantitative statement, rather than qualitative). Customer satisfaction for the FG sedan is extremely high. The Ford of 15 years ago doesn't exist anymore (well, not at the source, dealers are a different matter). Its now up to marketing to help the public realise this, as the common perception still seems to be otherwise unfortunately.

Anybody wanna buy a cheap SV8? Oops - wrong forum for that question HA HA!! Apart from that, the car had been used as a demo. Not much - just 100kms. 100kms of clutch side-stepping and rev limiter bouncing? Maybe - maybe not. The other turn-off was that it was a June 2008 car. Having a car stamped 2009 rather than 2008 has to be worth a few thousand come trade-in time.$1.50 / L fuel prices have prompted me to steer away from another V8. Having said that, I doubt thatb there's too much difference between an XR6T and my SV8 when it comes to around town fuel economy. If I use PULP, the car gives around 13.5L / 100kms around Sydney. That's the result of sensible driving of course. I guess an XR6T driven the same way might return 12L / 100 kms? What now? Expensive Daewoo is offering very attractive deals on SS's and HSV's. I wonder if that will put pressure on Ford dealers to respond? Hope so!PAH

I really hope that the FG is improving and customer satisfaction is high - It means we might get another Falcon after FG. I have a BF2 XR6T, My old man has a BF2 XR6, my uncle has a BF2 XR6 and my cousin has a BF2 XR8. All of these cars have really bad build quality. The diff has been out of my car 4 times in 30k KMs, external door skins warping, poor body alignment, among other things. The XR8 has had it's manual gearbox rebuilt twice in 20k KMs and has had his ICC replaced once, among other more minor things. The 2 XR6s have had many minor issues with things ranging from interior and exterior trim falling off, CD players failing, leaking steering racks, etc. All of these were bought brand new too! Funny thing is, that if you look around here, you will also see that I am not alone in my build quality dramas. I also went and test drove a handfull of FGs (G6ET, F6, XR8) and as much as I loved the F6, it still has a diff clunk under power on, like my BF. Seems they didnt fix that problem that has been with the falcon since BA!Anyway, this is pretty far off topic now! /rant

Seems they didnt fix that problem that has been with the falcon since BA!Hi guys,That's the sort of report that worries me. I am not 100% happy with my VY SV8. Expensive Daewoo fitted two new clutches under warranty. Each service manager threatened to make me pay if they found evidence of abuse . . . and then did the repairs under warranty. The factory pressure plate has now broken 3 times. When it let go out of warranty I fitted a GM Truck pressure plate supplied by Wrights Clutches of Lismore - had no more problems since then. Good quality AND good value! In my opinion, I don't give the clutch hell. I don't ride the clutch with big throttle launches. Definitely no side-stepping. The clutch guys said that a rev into the high 5,000's is the killer for the standard pressure plate. Guilty on that score but I don't regard that as abuse. It's a tad heavier than standard but that's OK.Apart from that, the clock built into the radio is inaccurate. The fuel gauge is all over the place. The clutch is the BIG deal and it cheeses me off that it's not a tougher unit. Not good enough in my opinion given that the car is targeted at perormance enthusiasts. Buy a newie - will I be be back in the same boat? I'd decided that Ford was probably doing a better job than Holden. Taxi drivers say that they get around 800,000km's out of a Falcon. Also, I've noticed Ford engineering. Ford fitted the Watts Linkage when the Late model camira used the Panhard Rod. Ford's first IRS was a wishbone design - a design that I prefer to that in my VY. Is it true that the Ford 6 speed manual has a reverse lockout and double synchros on 2nd gear? There's no reverse lockout on my VY - not too sure about double synchros. And after all of that, I read of quality issues of the type listed above. I hope that the Ford and Expensive Daewoo guys have a sticky beak around these web sites to learn what their LOYAL customers experience. Toyota's on the rise. No 1 car maker in the world. That one's not hard to figure out. And they did it selling &*#%$ FWD's Wouldn't that rot your socks! I hope that Falcon and Hoden remain RWD - that's their BIG draw card. I hope they can lift their quality. In the mean time . . . if I can fit my tools into the boot of a WRX . . . PAH

Member 1,742 Member For: 16y 4m 26d Gender: Male Location: Earth Posted 26/01/09 02:24 PM Share Posted 26/01/09 02:24 PM I believe the first four gears have triple synchros and the two top gears run double.Yes there is a reverse gear lockout solenoid. The clutch guy says a rev in the high 5000's is a killer but you don't consider that abuse????What do they mean by a rev? Just revving, or slipping the clutch for a launch, or something else? That doesn't make sense.Taxi drivers will always get high kilometres in anything they drive.Bet you won't do 800,000kms in a high performance Falcon or crumbledore without forking out a second mortgage.
