Hey guys,

Been wondering of late why we don't have a factory XR8 Turbo? I'm assuming it would give that low down/take-off power that I don't seem to have with my T, plus the added benefit of huge mid range and top end power.

Is it something to do with the 5.4L engine?

Too expensive to manufacture?

No market for them?

I have seen twin turbo kits for the Boss engines and I would imagine they would work a treat...

Do anyone have any thoughts on this? Or better yet, the answer? (I' looking at you Senna :spoton:)

Thanks guys,

Dan

Well, why would there be kits for them if no-one wanted it?

It obviously can be done, and people have done it...

simple.... not commercially viable.Just think how much the drive train would need to be beefed up to support a new car warranty.

You play you pay, ie mod to your hearts content, how do think the aftermarket guys make a living ??

The amount of engineering and money that would have to go into this would be out-bloody-rageous.

The benefits the company got from doing this would be nil.

They would sell very very very little and I dare say it would be the end of ford motor company in australia.

although, very very cool

Well,

Like I said, I have seen twin turbo kits for the boss motor and was just unsure of the reasons it hasn't been developed into a factory vehicle...

Oh well... Would be very very cool. Before I bought my T I was considering a BA XR8 and buying a twin turbo kit, but that fell apart...

Cheers guys,

Dan

would be nice but can you imagine the $ value from the factory. I love the APS TT kit for the VE SS's. Theres quite a few up here running around on them. Turns them into animals, luckily there all manuals because Expensive Daewoo cant get a descent auto into them. They would really haul then.

Tuners got a 5.7 monaro manual TT, cammed & all the usual stuff with it in with a std eng making 630rwhp on about 8 or 10psi. All ends in smoke. almost convinced me to get one. Might be a venture for down the track. Not that quick down the track though. Another blokes got a TT ss only managed a mid - high 12 pass with near 600hp but in complete street trim.

Whats the point when its done on the 6. You must have some distinction. I think there is one person on here that has done it, but most others supercharge for whatever reaons.

I think as they are (correct me if im wrong) the old basic boss 260 didnt react well to excessive boost with the compression ratio it was running.
