Shelving expansion plans, reducing the unneeded workforce and cost cutting are just the begining. While I do not plan to layoff any staff, it is an option that will be addressed and actioned if required.Sacrifice the few to save the many is a better choice than loose the ship.My dad who died last July was telling me for the past 2 years that this crash was coming, but he never saw his prediction come true. He would be emailing me articled about the Sub Prime market and the trouble the banks are in, well before the crash. Many people knew it was coming, just that most chose to paint a rosy picture and then act shocked when the crash happened. The only advice I have for people is DO NOT BORROW MONEY unless you have no other choice. Try to pay off as much as you can from Mortgages and credit cards as this is the area that will be most affected. The next 3 months is going to drive home the enormity of this situation. for anyone that thinks it is not real, keep you head buried and live in lala land as it IS happening and it WILL affect everyone.Very true Zap.My dad is a buisness man and he seen it coming years ago.He went through the 80,s recession and made it out without going under.I believe alot of younger and older people that have not experienced such a thing have no idea and think everything will be peachy....but the truth is it will effect most people.Battern down the hatches people.lol

Increase volume, income or sales velocity ( often at reduced margin %) , cut costs, or deliver value added solutions/products/services for which the maket is prepared to pay a premium. Can't do that. brace yourselves

We are headed off a cliff in this country rapidiy and l find it hard to fathom how we are going to come out the other side. The debt fueled boom is unwinding at an accelerating pace.l have started lurking on a forum that is full of the usual dills and tools, but also some very smart people. Have a read, study the facts and think about what is happening in your little corner of the world. Forget what the media is saying its all trite and self interest, look a bit further.http://forum.globalhousepricecrash.com/index.php?showforum=9Cheers,mondie Edited 24/01/09 12:25 PM by Mondie

It's like an under lying current drawing us deeper and deeper down the gurgler....Surely in this day and age we have the ability to do something about it... I work in a semi retail place dealing with pet and garden needs and January is the busiest we've been in 3 years! Normally January and February are quiet due to the Xmas rush but we are growing and I hope it continues that way! Looking around my workplace I can see months of work ahead :(9 months ago it took me 5 weeks to find someone half decent who was reliable and prepared to work a normal week for normal money (50ish). How times change. We had almost 100 people apply for 2 jobs over 14 days.. While a lot of people are clealy useless the odds of having better people to employ is heavily weighted in my favourIts clear some parts of the business isnt working to the full potential so now's the time when we can play around with all that and look at being more effecient to continue to grow well! turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 21y 10m 23d Gender: Male Posted 24/01/09 03:31 PM Share Posted 24/01/09 03:31 PM Thank Mondie for that website.Dagabond, there isn't much that anyone can do anymore. The more the government bailouts and interventions the worse its gonna get. You have just got to let the boom bust cycle take its course. The quicker the better. Government intervention is just going to drag out the inevitable bankruptcies. The economy of 2007 was never sustainable. It was out of control. Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 8d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 24/01/09 03:39 PM Share Posted 24/01/09 03:39 PM I have tried to remain possitive about the whole situation, but you cannot ignore the COLD HARD FACTS.I guess I was lucky that I did listen to my dad harping on for the past 2 years about this and had some planning put in place. Many people still think this is just a media beatup, but it is not, it is reality.I guess other counrties have been slipping downhill at a gradual pace, so they have been able to see the slow erosion. In Oz we have been isolated because of the resources boom. Now their prices have tanked 60+% the bubble has burst and we are going to cop a double whammy.I remember the tough times in the '80s and the 17%+ interest rates and 15%+ unemployment, these were not nice times. The worlds governments are trying to put the brakes on the slide in to resession, but all they can do is cushion the blow, not stop the wreck.
