Good info Matt, but be aware guys, when I put my f6 clutch in I didn't do anything with any springs, just bolted the flywheel up, then put the clutch discs and intermediate plate onto the clutch aligner and bolted it up with the housing. works fine.

good luck either way, and if the box does have to come off I would highly recommend getting an alloy csc put in. wont cost you any more time!

Hey all, just an update. I'm hopefully going to pull the thing out within the next week or 10 days. Have a look and replace what I can with the dollares I've saved. When I get there, I'll come back with a report of what we found. Cheers, Karl

Looks like it may have been a combination of a few things... The Phoon pressure plate had heat stress points, but the clutch plates still looked ok to the eye. The CSC looked a bit daggy and the bearing was a bit "grindy" (gotta love technical phrases..) The flywheel and sandwich plate was perfect (brand new). Really couldn't see where the fault was, so I've replaced the whole lot. Couldn't bare to pull the thing out again... Now shifts like new, no noise, and no slip.

im gonna go out on a limb and point the finger at the csc primarily.

my ap had heat spots on the pressure plate, and little spots on the flywheel, but shifts perfectly.
