Signed a new car contract last week for a new second car, being a 2008 VW Golf Gti, however the dealership just rang me to advise there is none left in the colour that we want. So far they are offfering a January 2008 build with 200Kms on it that has to come form QLD in the wrong colour.

I feel there is a game being played here, in that they always knew they could not deliver what I wanted and now they are trying to off-load something else to me.

What can I do? I have signed a new vehicle contract that they must also comply with.

Ive thought about asking for a big disount or taking a car that has more options at the same price. Anything else????????????

You should have bought a Ford...then you'd have none of these dramas! :stirthepot:

If it’s stipulated on the contract then they can’t just swap the colour, I’d tear it up and start again if it was me.

a contract is a legal agreement.. if you ordered a specific color then you should get it.. but if your also happy with the one there offering then I would ask for extras or a discount

:censored:

Colour is what you ordered - cant supply, then its null and void!

Did you happen to buy the car from Denlo by any chance?

If it was me I would either push for the car to remain in the same colour, and still brand new, just the next model up ie a R32... :pooh:

(btw anyone know at what point km's wise a car is no longer considered new but rather ex demo etc?) 100? 200?

I am surprised that the dealer is unable to find what you ordered anywhere - most dealers will do a trade swap or something similar to cover a order... (I would assume that's what they are trying to do with the QLD car)... You can try to call VW australia and see if they can find one as per your order...

Otherwise - GO BUY A XR5 FOCUS!!! :nyaah:

It doesn't surprise me really (the fact that there are none left) The GTi is a small volume vehicle, it isn't unrealistic to say that there will only be a few left in particular colours. The dealer should've told you this and asked if you had any other colour preferences. Have they told you all of the colours available? Or is there only one GTi left in all of Australia? (I doubt it).

It depends what is written oin the contract.

If it is to supply a 2008 plated Golf GTI in Black, then they must supply this or the contract is not valid.

A 12 month old car with 200km on the clock would not be considered new in my book.

I was waiting for you. They are getting back to me this arfternoon where I will be demanding 5k off or a different one with DSG at the very least, including the damn sunroof.

Whats Denlo??

5K off the already discounted 08 model price? Sorry but that won't happen. Not sure on the pricing of DSG or a sun-roof from VW, but see how you go. Generally the previous year deals are pretty skinny, so unless they've ripped you in the first place, I wouldn't be expecting too much past what they gave you.

I'm just trying to be honest here guys, I'm not defending the VW dealership or car sales in general - just talking from experience, take from it what you will

Wait for the mk VI (or mk 5.1 as it should be called) GTI. Apparently a much better car, with adjustable dampers, 15% better fuel economy, more power, and interiors are much nicer. I'll be looking at trading from mk V FSi to the GTi or wait for the stove hot GTi-R.
