gentlemen,

It is great to haggle and fell like you have "won" over the dealer with a great price.

In reality, the finance deal you get will probably make more differnce than a couple of grand sticker price.

Not many people buy with cash so we all finance... Chattel, HP, Fin Lease or OPLease etc.

Dont get me wrong, bust the hell out of the dealer, then do the same for the finance and the insurance.

What I am saying is, sometimes paying a little more from a dealer with excellent service amenities and good quality people to deal with is worth it, then bust your financier and end up paying less than the cheapest grubbo ford dealers who treats you like sh*t for the cheapest sticker price. know what I mean???

Hi all,

I'm fortunate enough to be eligible for the Ford Employee Discount. The discount is for Southern Region Ford Dealers only. I'm in Sydney. Does anyone know how far north the 'Southern Region' extends? Does it cover southern NSW, or just up to the NSW/VIC border? I guess I would have to pay stamp duty twice to have the car re-registered in NSW?

Cheers

Nige

Hi Nige,

I would think you first need to find a car that is applicable under the program.

Would suggest you can probably purchase this unregistred and on a fourteen day permit, from what I can remember you would not have paid stamp duty at this stage.

Drive the car to NSW, have it inspected, pay the rego and stamp duty.

I did a similar thing for my brother a couple of years ago, we bought a Honda in Victoria where I live un registered and on a 14 day permit. I then drove the car to S.A where he had it inspected by the S.A. road transport autority, paid rego and paid the stamp duty.

Speak to your roads authority in NSW for clarification.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Pete

I picked up mine online for $40500 2008 with 22K on the odometer with tow pack and tint. Pretty happy with it.....apart from the engine oil leak(now fixed) and paint over spray splatters which im fixing through insurance. I took off the fugly bonet and headlight protectors.

Gents

I'm currently looking for a G6ET myself.

I've tried a couple of dealers and they all tell me that there are no new cars currently sitting at any of the dealers in Perth. If I want a new one it will have to be a July /August build with delivery at the end of August.

This doesnt fuss me to much, at least this way it forces me to pick the colours that I want, rather than just take what is available, which I know I would do as I'm not really that patient.

The best on road price that I have so far been able to achieve is $60,490. This includes 19" rims ($2,181.81), 12 months rego ($603.60) and stamp duty ($3,736.85).

Given some of the prices quoted here, this seems a little steep. Do you think there is any further room to talk him down before I start calling him a liar.

I should mention there appears to be a 2% price rise in July, good one Ford.
