hi guys.. just been doing a little reading before I upgrade. have a xr6 turbo 03... been good car but want a fpv :)... so going to test drive a fg f6 this weekend :) but when I was in there the sales man was trying to well not really trying to sell me a gt but was saying they cant sell the gt's cause everyone wants the f6! :) like me so they had a ex demo 1 in there that he would sell for 50,000. so that's a saving of around 17,000.

and was full options. I love the 6 turbo but nothin sounds better then a 8. also f6 better to upgrade but wouldnt for a while... guess I might just have to test drive them both and see what comments come out of this... or there is always the option of buying a secound hand typoon or a new fg xr6 turbo as they have 270kw hmmmm.... so a little help here please!!!

the FG GT is a boring slug in a straight line... but then so is an F6... just a little bit less of a slug. The F6 is alot more boring in a straight line though - no sweet soul sounds.

The GT has a more manly feel and note ( and hump and rear spoiler!) that would make me buy it if they were left stock. and at 17K savings its a no brainer.

if it wasnt for the discount, however and you are gonna mod it, I would go F6 and get it to at least 350rwkw (ala Nizpro FG Stage 2)...

I don't think I came across clearly in my last post. To clarify, what I meant is this-

Since the GT and F6 are so close in performance in the real world, I would opt for the one that was the most fun to drive. The GT sounds so much better (you cant even hear the F6!) and feels more manly to drive and to punt through a corner. Yes the F6 is more nimble and a bit quicker - but this extra performance you will only use 0.00001% of your driving life (and that's if you ever even take your F6 beyond the limits that a GT could withhold on the road).

that's why if I were to leave em stock, ide take the GT - 95% of the performance of an F6, but 120% of the fun. And that's all without considering a 25% discount for the GT!

To rspecf6:

Sorry you don't agree, but I do consider both of them boring and slow in a straight line in factory stock guise. They get along and up to speed swiftly, but are definitely not adrenaline pumping at all for me in the straight line performance department. At least with the 8 you have noise!

In saying all this... throw the option of modding back into the equation... well you all know what I went for when in the same scenario with earlier models!

Cheers,

Venom

F6.

As manly as the bonnet bulge is supposed to look, from profile, it looks like crap. As for power, and F6 eats the GT in terms of useable torque.

agree there is a slug in this group

as for the sound well I must be deaf............................ :buttrock:

mate the gt is soft , imo only for those who "like the sound" good on them :buttonit:

most just put a blower on them to have a great car anyway.

suggest that is why there is so many in ford car yards and very cheap

supply and demand I think it is called, or just crap to start with , imo.

Anyone who can only manage 0-100 in 6.4 seconds in a GT needs to learn how to drive. They are capable of far quicker 0-100 times than that.

^unless the one they are testing has bugger all kays on the clock. It is rare to see a magazine get one into the 5s easily... and those guys can drive fine, look at the other times they've manged.

Lets all be honest. The BOss engine is a slug unless blown. Bring on the coyote and forget the Boss forever...

Firstly, car mag performance figures can't trusted, they are generally contradictory from issue to issue, and often have biases.

Secondly, all this talk of getting a V8 cause it sounds better, who cares. Nothing sounds better than the chear from the crown when you step up to the top step of the dias. Maybe motorsport competitors have it all wrong, they should be going for the best sounding car, not the quickest!
