When I turn the climate control off it goes away so I'm pretty sure its from the fan. When there is a little sideways load on the the car, like from going around a corner it goes away which leads me to think that there just might be dust deposits on the blades of the fan and it making the noise because it's out of balance. It's pretty damn annoying noise and having the stereo pumping all the time also gets a bit much, so my question is, has any one else had this problem? that is how hard is it to get to the fan? I'm hoping it's not a dash out jobbie. Thanks Edited 11/01/09 12:42 PM by Ticketec

Used to get that on the AUII a lot. I would clear it by winding the fan up full and switch between fresh and Recirc and that mostly cleared it. I un-clipped the glove box and found that there is a removable filter installed in front of the air box. I pulled it out and cleaned it up, but the noise was still there. I then blew compressed air inside to see if it was just something lodged in there, and although a bit of crap came out, the noise is still there.I'm pretty sure it must be bearing noise from the fan now. it only does it low fan speeds, and you can feel it throught the housing. so I'll have to start hunting around for another fan motor..thanks
