Guest Spinifex Guests Posted 12/01/09 08:37 AM Share Posted 12/01/09 08:37 AM Well, maybe not fry but, get them turning real good and then go forward. One important thing is don`t really arc up right in the puddle, the best thing you can ever spend on improving you whole drag strip experience is 30 minutes at the start line watching...Watch the guy park smack in the middle of the puddle of water, where the guy holds his hands up to stop you in, and he line locks it there spinning like crazy, not moving. Then watch the water he`s spun up around his inner rear guards dripping down onto the tyres..You can plainly feel when the car is in the deep part of the dip, just edge forward a tad so you are on the high side, and get them spinning, I use second in my ZF, then let it creep forward on the brake. You don`t need to go half track like Victor cause your spinning through all that sticky crap that's there.I`m firmly of the beleif We`d have heard Matt chirping about his high 11 if he`d had done even a mild tyre warm up.I`m not implying I`m any kind of expert, but I can garrantee anyone who`s starting out will benfit from 30 -45 mins spent at the start just observing. Guest Spinifex Guests Posted 12/01/09 10:05 AM Share Posted 12/01/09 10:05 AM Its okay if you`re an old hand, but guys who are maybe a bit rusty or new, can lose thier focus wondering about what goes on at the start line when they get there. If you watch first for a bit, you`ll know the drill better and can concentrate on the important stuff like turning off *&^%ing traction control.. Getting the stall right etc. Also on street tyres I`m not proposing a pea soup fog of tyre smoke, just get them turning and go forward. It works for me. Tell me it isn`t fun. But, you`ll tear through ya rear pads and tyres obviously if you over cook it.I`m just saying try stuff, see what works for you. Tune & injectors only on factory dunlops. So yeah any improvement on that poor 2.4 60' will net an 11.
