Posted 18/01/09 08:20 PM Share Posted 18/01/09 08:20 PM pretty sure u can get a voltmeter and to check the current that runs thruw themthis makes no sense at all. You can only use a voltmeter to check volts or a ampmeter to check current. You can use a multimeter to check both. You could get a multimeter to check the resistance and get a ohm reading but then any of these test wont tell you if the rubber insulation is breaking down. but swaping one over and going for a drive and then finding which one it is.. is prob a better waychanging coils is alot of work. I was thinking of that to save money when I had a little issue but decided to change the lot. Got genuine ones off ebay for $200 delivered and changed the lot in 1 go. Fixed my issue. I guess if you wanted to test if the insulation is breaking down you will have to grab the coil pack with one hand and test the earth with the other, you will feel if it has got insulation break down (not recommended if you don’t like pain or have a sh*tty heart). Not even a normal insulation testing tool (MEGA) will be able to test if there is break down because they only go up to 1000V not the 48,000V that coils use.Just change them all if you don’t want to waist to much time. Electrical tape won't do much either its not designed to take these sorts of voltages if you want to do it on the cheap see if you can find some resin filled heat shrink to heat onto it. I don’t know how much space you have down there in-between the cams.If the car is doing while it is stationary (just being revved), Get someone to see if they can see any gapping while the cover is off (little thin blue spark), or again stick your hand down the side to feel it (again don’t jump up and smack your head on the bonnet or something like that hehe). When I first got tuned and had a new cat it made lovely *BANG* noises on over run (doesn’t do it anymore )So anywayEasy Fix: Replace them allHard Fix: Heat srink Replace 1 at a time

Haven't checked my plugs or coils yet. Does it sound like coil packs or plugs? also what gap for plugs?Cheers, Kym

I'm just thinking it's gonnabe a PITA to remove piping, swap one out, replace piping, test drive/run, cool down, repeat
