Not to be confused with diff clunck, this seems to come from trans and its not pinging noise either. The car seems to do this only deceleration when I back accelerator at 60 kms, revs are up to 2300rpm. Also does at higher speeds when decellerating, seems to only do this at 2300 - 2500 rpm when engaging into a different gear just as I back off accelerator. Any advice would be appreciated. Get it on a dyno so you can get your mechanic to have a look at it.

Sounds as if coming from a component as the gear changes down. Only at low revs when backing off throttle. The car drives fine on the road. It is basically stock other than a wog cooler fitted a month ago.Originally I thought it might be pinging from the different intercooler but I drive it like a grandma and does not sound like pinging- it would ping on acceleration which it doesnt. It really has me stumped.I'm wondering if this is typical of the BTR 4 speed on these cars. Edited 09/01/09 05:13 AM by tab Quote removed

It is not the transmission as I've had a new one built. I can't say for certain it is the CV because I haven't investigated, but it is the likely culprit. It could be heard when you take off from standing still, or at low speeds when you are on and off the throttle. Ford replaced the tail shaft which fixed it for a few weeks but its back again. I have just got use to the sound.
