Getting ready to go away,so I thought I would check the oil level,to my surprise I found some pin head size objects on the dip stick, dipped again after cleaning the dip stick and found some more.Wtf is it ,cars has about 13000km, oil was changed at 3000km.Going to do an oil change today and see if I find any larger pieces. Will let you know how I go later today.Cheers Nick

Was oil really changed at 3000k???? This is the 3000k inspection that Ford does but I dont believe they change the oil, unless you changed it or had it done and if not the original oil has been in it.

Also if you did change it at 3000k, then now 13000k is a touch long I think for these cars even with the high quality oils. Some boys doing every 5000k, me 7,500k cause im lazy and pay someone to do it.

even so 15,000km like the logbooks say is FAR TO LONG between changes... christ even 10K the oil is rooted...

I do the logbook services at a mechanic, and do one at 7500km myself at home. always supply my own oils and filters.

this morning took the oil to my mates workshop and strained the oil using ladies stocking, found yellowish pits of plastic almost like sand granules.Lucky that they are large enough for the filter to catch.(no metal)I don't know these engines but my guess its some sort of plastic coating on a chain guide, anywhere else it may be coming from?Found 20-30 of them in the oil.Cheers Nick

Any bits of anything in the oil is a sign of something going wrong.

Especially if they are visible to the eye.

If I were you I'd be making the dealer aware of what you found and show them.

Sounds like something might go bang in the future and if you've got proof it came from inside the engine it might help a warranty claim later on.

The service tech guys should be able to identify what the failing item is with the evidence you give them.

:tonguepoke:

If it is like a 'clag' type of substance, it could be the oil bonding with moisture/water...

Not to sure if it is likely to happen, but I know that an ex had a POS Toy'ota and somehow the oil ended up with water through it... basically what u described was the same as what we found her oil ended up like...
