Hi

After careful consideration of what's around, a new Mustang will be in the garage after next weekend. (Silver with black interior, 4.6 Cobra, 5spd)

The main reason against an XR 6T/XR8 is that I drive one of those at work every day (once I get the SS replaced) and the GT will be a much better car after the Series 2.

What I am after, from current Mustang owners, is has anyone lowered the Mustang so that the air gap between the top of the tyre/bottom of the guard is not so pronounced.

If you have had the car lowered what problems have you had: Availability of springs, change in caster/camber settings, uneven wear of tyres etc

I would only be interested in reducing the ride height by 30mm so as not to affect the range of caster/camber adjustment, the shock absorber piston travel or increased tendency for bump steer.

Anyone help?

Thanks

Grant

Grant ... congrats on a fine decision

off to speak to Mr. Robert Herrod .... beautiful anti-4wd look ...

dropped about 45mm ...

if you want .. Koni sport shocks to each corner ... then Herrod exhaust ... then Unichip ... sh*t loads of tuning for full range torque... viola

that is one fine piece of car :)

Thanks. So I take it Herrod would have a spring set and caster/camber kit available.

Have you had any dramas with the aforementioned scenarios (caster/camber change, shock travel etc)

Thanks again

PS The 4.6 Cobra may be in need of a supercharger at the end of warranty period LOL

 well done ploky congrads my parents were looking at the 2002 mustang beford they brought the XR8 and the ute they are a awesome looking car and they sound sweat as a xr8 aswell reason mum and dad didn't get one is because the one @ the dealer was white manual but it was white and that is a big no no in her books. hope to see some pic's of the stang on the website soon with a lowerd suspention, exaust and BLOWER if she were mine she would also cop big rims 19inch and a full SVT body kit from the states :o top stuff plonky

I know someone who removed a lot of the camping ground between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch. Nothing but an improvement .. go see Rob Herrod Plonk, you wont be disappointed

Thanks chaps, it may be more economical for me to give him a call as he is in Melbourne and I am in Middle Earth (just for you Ken) alias over the Great Dividing Range in NSW.

I'm pretty stoked about the Cobra and I can;t wait to get it, though it pales in comparison to the Dodge (in a straight line LOL)

The stang is one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. I know a mate who gets to frequently drive one and that engine note is pure horn. The actual car is questionable ie. build quality, handling, ride height, but the fun of the race-like sounding motor (inside & out) outyweighs all of it, especially in a soft top!

Had 5 side by side runs with a brand new one in a BAXR8 ute and every time it was dead even, both manuals!
