Jelly Like Handling Moment In 6t

Anyone have any ideas what might have caused this one?

I turned right onto a highway from traffic lights and as I put the boot in to get upto 100km/h after I was pointed straight, my turbo started to handle like a bowl of jelly for about 5 (to maybe 10) seconds before feeling somewhat normal again after I started slowing down.

I use bowl of jelly because it started wobbling side to side and felt really loose like the rear was fish tailing (even though the car was travelling completely straight and I was in my lane the whole time) There was no tyre smoke or squeals etc and the guy behind me didn't seem to back off or change his driving at all. I didn't hear or see the traction control light come on either.

As soon as I could I pulled over on the highway and got out to take a look thinking I had a badly deflating tyre, cracked or broken rim, steering or some suspension damage but the car looks completely fine. I thought maybe if it was taily there would be marks on the sides of the rims or tyre if I hit the curb during it but everything is unmarked.

I crawled the car for the next few km's (I was maybe 3km's from home) to see if it would do it again but everything felt normal, couldn't hear any grinds/groans/rattles or anything else or any other weird feedback in the steering or suspension.

I didn't have any problems navigating around left and right hand corners or roundabouts on the way home and still couldn't hear, see or feel anything unusual.

I'll still call ford roadside assist in the morning to get them to take a look at it and make sure nothing is broken or damaged underneath but does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Completely stock '07 6T sedan. No suspension/wheel/engine mods.

My opinion would be if you haven't done so already is to get in under the rear of your car and have a good look at all bushes, suspension components and bolts. Hopefully this may lead to finding the source of you unusual experience.

If you can't find anything and the car seems to drive fine then possibly road surface.

I've had something similar happen. This was crawling in stop start traffic with very light throttle.

It felt like the back end was on ice. Was sliding out to the right, or drifting left-right-left. Hard to describe, but it felt like the rear axle had disconnected from the car. Like you I pulled over hoping that at worst it was a flat. Nothing looked to be wrong.

As it had just started raining lightly, and happened out the front of a servo, I put it down to oil or other crap on the road. Took it very slowly for the rest of the short trip, and haven't noticed anything since.

I was also kinda surprised that TC didn't kick in. It was a very creepy feeling, especially since I was barely touching the go pedal.

Yep, sounds like exactly the same thing that happened to me.

Mine happened under heavy acceleration though and on a fine day but theres nothing to say there wasn't any oil from a truck on the road. (heavily trafficed section of highway)

Seemed to go normal again as I slowed back down.

Thanks Rooster.

Was mid to high 30's in perth yesterday from memory and it did happen when I was giving it a bit climbing up a railway overpass section on the highway.

TC could have gone off but the tunes were up loud enough to drown it out and I had my mind on the other things the car was doing at the time so probably wouldn't have noticed the lights anyway.
