What better reason to burn some rubber? (Do it on a sealed, private road though - Fordxr6turbo.com does not condone burnouts on public roads... :blush: )

Guys, I jacked it up yesterday. It was in neutral, I spun the wheel and the other one went in the same direction (straight). No sh**. I assume this means it is clearly LSD? This is a brand new factory car. I bought it with 20 kms and it was registered the day I picked it up.

I'm at 1,100km and am still running it in, so am hesitant to do a brakie, but I'm too curious so I think I am going to have to now. Will let you know the results.

Please do... I am very curious about this. Can you also look at the compliance label and tell us what month your car was built?

Cheers.

IF it is a LSD, then there will be a tag on the diff bolt that says LSD oil only.

A tight diff can make both wheels spin the same way.

This is a bit of a different question but comes under the heading of G6ET Question.

Under the menu on the instrument cluster there is an option for "Lane Change".

Does anyone know what this actually does?

The lane change feature is in regards to the indicators. You will notice that when you just tap the indicator stalk the indicators will blink three times. You can turn this off so it will only blink once with a quick push of the stalk.

Sorry ... bit off topic but "lane change feature" reminded me of my R32 GTR. It used to change lanes without steering. 4 wheel drift ... I think that was due to a faulty indicator lever!!. LOL ...

Trust me - it is an open diff not a LSD - check the part number on the Ford database and you will see.

A new open diff will act like a LSD but over time will loosen up and will start favouring one wheel. I have done 13000Ks in my G6ET in 4 months and the open diff is still spinning both wheels.

How do I access the ford database? I guess that's the only definative way of knowing...

So far:

1) Have jacked it up and spun the wheels- both go in the same direction;

2) Did a small brakie (on a private road of course)- and it left 2 identical marks.

As ZAP mentioned earlier... have a look at the diff filler plug on the side of the diff. If it is LSD it will have a metal tag attached to it stating LSD oil only.

I'm quite certain only the LSD diffs have the tag anyway... so even if you can't read it but the tag is there, it is a LSD.
