Pretty sure they still look like this, but with a little more dish (ignore the valve marks, they came out of an engine that was out of time)

Ouch. So there should only be two fly cuts on that piston then.lol

If the piston design in the FG engine is very similar to that, then I would say pistons will not affect air flow too much in the combustion chamber.

what kind of gains are we looking at here?

I can see how it is an advantage but I cant see it making a difference on these cars. However I'd like to see if it makes a difference on engine power or makes it run smoother or has any effect at all.

First of all, I'd like to apologise to all the people that I may have confused or misguided.

I've just realised that in my posts the 'electrode' I have been referring to is the 'ground electrode' and not the 'centre electrode'.

I should have made this clear from the start.

No worries mate was was just being a smart ar*se hahaha

I still dont think there is much to be gained with doing this to our engines, even if there is I don't know how you could actually quantify the gains...

I'd be happy to be proved wrong though.... so keep us updated

I'm looking for any kind of gain and none in particular.

A gain is better than a loss. We are not speaking about massive amounts here either. If there was any gain to be seen on the dyno, I would honestly only expect a kilowatt or two. You won't feel that in terms of seat of the pants either. But if it makes as much as 0.2L/100km of fuel consumption improvement, then I'll take that as a gain. And for minimal work also. I'll feel that in the back pocket in the long run.

As nobody appears to have done it I'm going to try it and see if there is anything to be gained.

If I experience any loss of power or economy or engine running smoothness, then the plugs will be going back in as they originally came out. Can't hurt to give it a go though.

No more mystery guys.

Just had word from Simon at Xtreme.

Indexing plugs makes no difference to power or economy.

Senna_T you're probably going to be first on the scene here so can you close this thread please. :finger:
