hdmi has sound and pic in the 1 cable usally, but since there is no hdmi from the graphics card, I just got the sound (from pc) going strait to the speakers/amp

depends on ya graphics card as to what video out connection it has (some may need vga instead of dvi, or s-video even)

You can buy a cable that goes straight from the computer and converts to RGA for the T.V. etc etc although I go straight to my amp using the same cable.

I've always used the Noontec Media players, so easy to use and so portable... there are much better ones out there like the Mediagate series with wifi etc but my noontec does me well..

There are many options when it comes to a media player to do exactly what you want. However I would do a bit of research as some of the cheap ones are not that great, just search for users reviews on the net.

I have a mediagate media player that is hooked up to my Plasma. It has pretty good playback support in terms of formats etc. I have it hooked up via component cables and it supports 480p, 720p and 1080i content.

My mediagate has inbuilt wireless and ethernet, so I can plug it into my internet modem/router via a network cable or connect it via wifi. Have done both and both work well for streaming both SD and HD content from my PC. This will allow you to keep all your movies, shows and music on your computer and you can access them using your media gate and play them on your TV etc. You can also put a hdd into and store content on there if you want.

Depending on the model, they go for about $180-$300 without a hdd. Use staticice.com.au to find a good price in your area.

My sony 52" lcd has a vga input that supports most resolutions. I use 1360x768 for internet viewing as it scales it better plus I can see it from a distance. Looks excellent also with other games like Sacred 2 in full 1080 although my pc is an old P4 3ghz, 2gb ram and ati 128mb graphics card, I used the spdif out to my amp for 5.1 sound and sit in my recliner with a wireless mouse and keyboard on a cutout of plastic convolute (military target shooting signs).

Did it just for curiosity to see what it was like and it has stayed in the HT room now!

Same setup here, vista ultimate with media centre, three DTV tuners, about 2tb of storage and audio via fibre optic cable...haven't used a vcr/dvd player for god knows how long!
