Hey, im after a media player. Its basically a Hard Drive that I can transfer media(movies, mp3's, photos etc..) onto, and that also allows me to connect to my plasma and play through that.. Have looked at ebay, and have found heaps, but just after something someone can recommend. Also it will need to support the usual movie types AVI, MPEG, DIVX etc... I think our plasma can also be hooked upto a computer so that would be another option I guess, but I'll have to confirm that.. That would be easier...

Any info welcome..

Cheers Mike..

I have an Antec Fusion hooked up to my plasma and then into an Onkyo Surround sound system works a treat basicly it's a fancy case witch I then put a cheap pentium computer in, plays everything.

Most people can't even tell I've got a compter in the loungeroom and I can control it with the media center remote and wireless keyboard an mouse if I need to.

I'd be surprised if your plasma can't be connected to a PC...if that's a feasible option then look no further.

Depending on your operating system, get yourself a media centre remote and you’re all set. :crybaby:

Good news.. the plasma accepts PC's... By far the easiest option.. For the PC, how gooda PC do I need. Im guessin any 'decent' computer would do as long as its got a big HDD to fit everything.. Would it need a really good video card so the picture would be at its best? Can ya get high def pc video cards? Wont be used for anything else than playin media through the TV.. Already have the rest of the home entertainment system...

I cant wait to get this up and running, no more fuggin cd's

All computers use a picture that is better than high def. You don't need a big computer I only use a pentium in the loungeroom but any cheap dual core would be fine you are right a couple of big hardrives will last a long time but you can allways upgrade. I would recomend a good sound card as opposed to a good video card but both are good I also have a wireless card in mine so I can conect directly to the web.

Mika, I reckon a good option would be one of the mini tower ones from acer or dell, real small towers and most have 500gb HDD's nowadays too. even if it was a smaller one, you could always add a TB hdd. most come with vista premium which includes windows media centre (some with remote)

do you by any chance have an xbox 360 too?

Thanks for all the info guys...

Superdan not really into games so nothing in that department..

Im really asking on behalf of my old man, what I was thinking is giving him my computer, its nothing special but would be perfect for his needs, and have him 'invest' a little into getting me a new computer.. Its a pentium 4 blabla, 2gig ram, 160gig HDD, 512mb video and 5.1 channel sound card, has an awsome wireless mouse(I've been through heaps and this one has stood up for ages now, only needing to change batteries once in 2 years I think). Wont really need a keyboard I dont think... What ya'll reckon? Also the plasma's owners manual says I need audio cables from the pc to the tv, and going by the pics the look sorta like AV sorta cables. My pc dont have those sort of sound outputs..
