Ok received a reply from Kumho Aust today, and has just replied with some pictures...

Hi Michael

This is not typical of the KU31 tyre.

It may be best to visit your nearest store or shop you bought the tyres from and have them inspected

Kumho Tyres are fully guaranteed against manufacturing fault

Hope to head down to a local dealer tomorrow and see what they think/say... With some luck in the mean time Kumho will reply and advise on the pics as well...

Just hope if there is a problem they dont mind having another dealer fix it up, as the boys at Payless as greeat as they are, are just to far for me to head over to this week...

19/07 so mid last year mate!

from memory they were fitted in October 07... Guess im going to need to try and dig out the invoice!

guys, looks like the tyres are faulty... took the car to a kumho dealer today and he says its definitely not normal!

however kumho want me to buy two new ones and send back the faulty ones, so they can inspect them, once confirmed faulty they will then send 2 new ones...

hhhmm not really happy about that, so waiting to hear back from my preferred dealer (who supplied and fitted the tyres) to advise what to do...

Will keep you all updated...

not good business practice, or customer service for warranty... guess we'll see what happens...

Pretty much standard practice for any warranty claim in the automotive industry unfortunatly. Claim's don't automatically get approved and the $'s handed out

yeah mate, I know - agree and understand that, however it was taken to a Kumho Named Dealer to be checked, they called Kumho and advised of the issue, yet they still want me to shell out 600$+ just so they can check what there own authorized dealer has told them... If it was not an obvious fault, and Kumho had not already been emailed and sent pictures also I would be singing a different tune... and its not like the tyres have done many k's or been on for a long time... 3 1/2 months, and about 3,000 km's... anyways... :huh:

I have not asked for a refund either, just a new set of tyres "if in the event they were found to be faulty" which the dealer has said they are...

Anyways, not a huge issue, will see what my preferred tyre supplier says and then go from there... need to replace the rears soon anyways so good excuse to do it a bit earlier I guess, just would have liked to stretch it out a little longer! :thumbsup:

See if the boys can wack a set of 2nd hand worn rubbers for a few days...

dont waste your time just checked my same tyres, the fronts have the same line about 40% gone but rears with a only about 20% left dont have it.
