Just got back from interstate and checking the car over today, only to notice both the front tires have a split the whole way around in the center...

Done about 2500-3000 Km's... Since fitted.

Can push my finger nail into the crack...

Russ, its the line in the center of all the photos... where you will see the little thin bit of rubber in the center of each of a new tyre, however it wears by the time you get home... In this case, its now what looks like a split... I can actually push a business card into it as well...

Look at where the letters "STA" are stamped into the rubber, and you should be able to see what im referring too..

it's probably where the top and bottom of the mould meet.It surely can't be a joint line.Even cheap retreads aren't joined there, they take them to the side walls. All the best with it.CheersNick

that's a new 1 for me! My tyres (rear) started to delaminate on the iner side edge/wall but that was at 50% through the tread wear aswel. When khumo gives you a reply post it I would luv to know what they say :beerchug:

Nick that's what I was thinking... Hence Im asking...

Its weird as I have never seen rubbers split the whole way around a tyre - straight doen the middle like this/that...

Its as if the tyres where joined in the middle rather then as a belt!

Got me stuffed so far... Was going to swing by the guys at the tyre shop which fitted them but they are over the other side of town... So thought I would ask first...

Wait for a reply from kumho and you might wanna give the tyre shop a call just to let them know that they could have a faulty batch

Whats the age of the tyres? You can tell off the sidewall. I think its written like 44/07 = week 44 of 2007.
