Ill explain.With the car iddling and the box in neutral and foot off the clutch there is what im told is ''ROLL OVER NOISE''( gear meshing type of noise ) it is more prevelent when the air con is on( revs drop a touch). My car idles at about 800rpm and as soon as the revs get to about 900-950rpm the noise dissapears. I am told by the x-sperts that it is quite normal. Do any of you guys have this noise and what rpm do your cars idle on ?When I get the custom tune later in jan I will ask the tuner to lift the idle revs to approx 950rpm if that's possible to hopefully get rid of this noise.I still think Tremec could of designed this box to get rid of roll over noise.Any opinions on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Got the idle noise with a/c on mainly. idles bout 750-800. plus the rattle when ya take off. gotta lift the revs a fair bit on mine to get ride of the takeoff rattle. If ya wanna know more about it give Mal Wood a call. I believe the idle rattle is rollover noise. No Cost Option.It has something to do with the harmonics of the engine and ford, to try and fix it decided to wack an extra litre of oil in the box to try and quiet it down. I was just realy interested in peoples experiance and how many of the boxes actualy rattle like mine. I have been in other ''T''s that dont suffer from this rattle so I cant see how it can be ''NORMAL'' some do and some dont. Ive got used to it now and it will be a non issue when the cars idle is raised.
