Had the car serviced the other day and found what seems to be oil in the coolent reservoir. Anyone had this issue before and could this be the first signs of a bigger problem?

I had transmission oil in my coolant. had to replace radiator, waterpump, pipes, and dats about it. lucky it was under warranty. is urs a pink colour?

Hey,

Change your engine oil cooler, its an water cooled adapter that sits in between the block & oil filter.

Pull it off & have it pressure tested. Mine had a fu*k all crack in it which only leaked when it got hot.

Nah he's talking about Transmission oil in the radiator fluid.

Time for an External Transcooler and pis off the one that goes through the radiator.

Oh yeah you might have farked the Trans too.

Lets not forget there is both engine oil and coolant in the turbo.........

I would start with the oil cooler though.

turbotrana, how does power steering oil make it's way into the coolant?

The power steering cooler is external of the radiator and goes no where near any coolant.

Yep, I hope your trans isn't shagged and that you're under warrenty. I was reading up on this and it's a common problem (and have been checking my coolant ever since).

"We had 03 BA XR6Turbo same transmission problem. Problem caused by faulty brazing where the transmission oil cooler pipe runs thru bottom of radiator. Lousy brazing fails (because the brazing slag was not removed when made). When engine running - high transmission oil pressure forces transmission oil in to radiator - when engine switched off - residual water pressure in radiator forces water in to transmission oil line. This causes rubber hoses in water system to soften and blow out. Mine blew the cooling line down to turbo where there is a small section of rubber joint hose."
