Still making things happen with high pressure/high temperature very fast water molecules but now there is a computer helping me out. And everything else to do with running a powerstation requires me to be glued to a pc screen..........FUN!! Guest PSXR6 Guests Posted 09/08/03 09:20 AM Share Posted 09/08/03 09:20 AM I would have to lean on the side of geek but just. Am the local distribution and export manager for a multinational company and spend most of my work hours around large vehicles. I have 3 sons, the two older ones 16 & 19 are one of each, 1 x total geek, 1 x total mech but I love both, get the best of two worlds. Both aspirants are computer literate, have a technological fetish and seek inspiration from Japanese turbo tech tuners (how's that for alliteration!) The Turbo allows easy bolt on horsepower mods which don't require detailed mechanical knowledge, just an affinity with electronics and an ability to patch in a piggyback ECU or make a cold air box.The more V8 type of poster is more of a hands on person that has experience in doing real tuning work. This would include tuning carbs, replacing cylinder heads, replacing camshafts etc. With the advent of EFI there is a crossover into ECU tuning as well as making the most of oxygen laden air for combustion purposes. The Turbo type dude would read SPEED magazine (Hi Curt thanks for the beers) and the V8 man would read MOTOR (Hi Micky T) and Street Machine (Hi Geoff, congrats on Mag of the Year)I like the sledging that goes on between the traditionalists (V8) and the techno(Turbo) and neither will ever prove they have the best.Of course that leaves Ken. He is in a class of his own much like Melkor. He can be smooth to win the hearts and minds of weaker folk and malicious when he is faced by the strength and might of the Valar. The site would not be as much fun without Ken Boyle aka Melkor. LOLYou may now abase yourself before your LOTR master........ LOLYou may now abase yourself before your LOTR master........Oh, LOTR master ...I come before you, grovelling on hands and knees, my un-worthy husk lain prone before you, basking in your eminence. (kidding that didn't give me a rash!)Insiteful observation re tradition vs technology, e.g., V8 vs Turbo. Hadn't thought about it that way, but the premise has some merit.More accurate, I believe, is your observation that this forum benefits from my (albiet humble) presence. Spot on. Easy with the "winning hearts and minds" stuff, though ... we don't want the weaker folk catching on now, do we? ... abasement complete! But oh heavenly one, I love anything produced by the Blue Oval God. I have good knowledge of mechanics, however, I wish that cars came with a keyboard, and a mouse.
