Should handle 300rwkw give or take with a good tuner but they are a ticking time bomb and wont last forever.

Biggest difference came from BA to BF with the stronger bottom end in BF mk2 and the introduction of the ZF 6sp auto with the BF. If you dont have a tight budget I recommend u get a BF mk2 with a ZF u pay a few grand extra over a BA but u will save that in transmission and possibly engine rebuilds depending on the power you intend to throw at it. I can get hold of a nice BA MKII that I know the history of for quite cheap(low teens).. but when I add up what a rebuilt auto, new valve springs and the possibility of bending a BA rod will cost it sorta makes me sway towards a BF even with the fairly larger price different..(low 20's) hard decisionHey guys been thinkin bout this a bit today. I'm close to getting my BA modded too... to start with I'm just getting injectors, fuel pump, K&N Filter, FPV lower air intake and custom tune... should get me somewhere around 280rwkw. Gonna run that for a while, prob will get a fair bit of heatsoak from the stock cooler but that would be the next mod and bigger cat. Also just gonna see how the valve springs go... likely to get a bit of float but will change when funds allow. So up to you, could look at doing similar to me to start or go all out, but it really depends on how much cash you can throw at it at once. The more you can do in one hit the better, saves u on tuning / dyno time which means more cash each re-tune! Good luck Richard
