An easy trick u can use to find out if its a clutch hydrolic issue, with the car switched off select first or reverse, push the clutch in and then start the car up. If the car trys to move when u start it up with your foot still on the clutch then there is something wrong with the clutch hydrolics.

Not necessarily at all.

If there is something wrong with the 'hydraulic' part of the clutch system, there could be a leak, bypassing slave cylinder or master cylinder.

But, if all those components are ok, then it could be a sticky clutch friction plate, worn or warped pressure plate or nothing wrong with the clutch at all.

Could still be the synchro's in the box.

If there was no issue with the clutch before the 'new' gearbox was fitted, I'd be more inclined to check the gearbox out.

as mentioned above, starting in gear may not show the problem, as it may be air in the system which will affect total throwout, running or not.

Also no synchro in reverse :nuts2:
