What are the benefits of replacing the giant black box and air filter panel that comes stock in XR6T's with a POD? If my memory of what's under the bonnet serves correctly, we have ducting and a scoop at the front of our cars that captures and runs air into the air box, removing that and adding a pod would mean that you're just sucking air from the ambient engine environment (see: really fscking hot air too!) in instead.

I freely admit I'm a total noob to performance when it comes to cars, but what're the advantages of dropping the box and adding a pod?

If you are putting a pod in exactly the same place as you said you will sick in hot air.
