Final list of recent mods....Plazmaman 1000hp intercooler kit with hot and polished cold side pipingPlazmaman BOVPlazmaman expansion tank (polished)Process West surge tank with noise reduction kit4" Nizpro exhaust with 4" dump and twin 4"catPorted B-series housing with flapper8spi actuatorBosch 968 injectorsMalwood Short Shifter (with transmax Z)and most importantly...Bluepower custom tune340rwkw (dyno graphs and pics on their way). So, the nizpro exhaust....I have just about chewed every last nail I had off over this system and ripped what little hair I have left out in anticipation. I have had one on order since Feb with claims of big power gains, high flowing, stainless steel, v-banded, zero droning goodness. In hindsight, whilst this system is very well made and a work of bloody art to look at, it has been a bit of an overkill for my application. She's a monster of a system and from all initial reports, this was definitely not a zero drone system and it was naive of me to think that it wasn't going to a least to some small degree. We were pretty worried how this thing was going to turn out and whether or not I could live with the noise and the fact that due to the free-flowing nature of the thing it was making life very difficult to keep boost at between 14 and 15psi which was what I was after.I am a conservative fella, and would probably have preferred an APS system but I have to say that now, after some fitting issues were sorted and the FG nizpro exhaust perforated tips fitted I can live with the noise and within a short space of time must say that it is growing on me.When cold and on start up, there is some initial cabin boom but this quickly comes back to a smooth warbling note that is not too intrusive at all. The same boom is only momentarily present for the initial load on take off in 1st or 2nd but again quickly disappears. Cruising at 2,000rpm in 6th - no real noticeable drone unless you let the engine labour too much and then it gets a bit louder - as all cars do really - like a twin prop airplane in the background. But it is under WOT that this system makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand. I love it. It's not overly noisy but a good deep aggressive note that I don't think I'll ever get sick of hearing. Decelerating downhill in gear and you get a nice burble/crackle but again, nothing too over the top.Still, if I was chasing over 380rwkw then this would be the system I'd go for. If I could have my time again, I think I would have put an APS system on though. Just better suited to my needs I think.I agree with what others have said that have been in the car, 2 out of 3 would say that it didn't drone. This is subjective - what is drone to some is music to the ears of others. One other thing. My valve springs are standard and due to the free flowing nature of teh exhaust, appear nowhere near their limit and are doing the job quite nicely. The BLUEPOWER tuneWhat can I say...I tip my hat to the masters. The power delivery is quite phenomenal. With the exhaust, it is quick to come onto boost and hits you in the chest. It's as if nearly all that power is right there and from 3000rpm it is seriously game on, holy mary mother of god stuff. 2nd gear is aggressive at anything anywhere near half throttle and 3rd in the dry wants to fish on you a little as the power comes on before biting in.I had a 300+km trip home to Hobart yesterday morning with an outside temp all the way home of 7 degrees. Wet roads, and early morning log trucks saved my life and kept me on cruise control for the first half of the trip. Then I hit the dry stuff. 4th gear overtaking - I cannot imagine that there would be many street vehicles around (especially in Tas) that would keep this thing honest in 4th gear. That needle moves ohh too fast and it feels like there is seemingly just an endless source of power to tap into. 5th gear is barely any different there is just so much torque and in the higher gears in the dry, the 245's put it all down quite nicely. I wouldn't say no to some wider rear tyres though as 1st, 2nd and 3rd are just not coping with it on 245's.I really like this tune...a lot. It will be great for track days. The power is right there and at the same time delivers it in spade loads but it has never felt unpredictable like my previous tune did.Ohh, and with some Melbourne traffic and the highway home, fuel average was 11.6lt/100km and still declining when I got back into city traffic. 6th gear cruising at 110km/h showing 8.0lt/100km.Happy with that.Bottom line, if you are thinking of getting this new nizpro system installed, I hope you are hunting big power...and if I were you, go and listen to one first before buying. It may not be to your taste but for a big system, I must say that I am very impressed and I am not easily impressed.I think Nizpro have pulled it off.Mike. I'll hopefully have one of my car next week, and will be attempting to venture over the 400rwkw mark then. If you could get some video's of incar at wot I'd really appreciate it. Not too loud, not droney - just animal. I will be hard at work this weekend getting some footage and sound together with some pics. I just don't have time during the week and it's bloody dark down here in Tassie at 5:30pm!!
gregor Member 459 Member For: 16y 6m 16d Posted 28/07/09 04:01 AM Share Posted 28/07/09 04:01 AM sounds great but with that mod list I would have thought you'd be up around the 380 rwkw mark?
F6T Member 93 Member For: 17y 1m 14d Gender: Male Location: Tasmania Posted 28/07/09 04:25 AM Share Posted 28/07/09 04:25 AM The car wanted to make big power. It wasn't my aim though to get as much as I could out of it. After a bit of research it seemed that 330rwkw or thereabouts was the most realistic streetable amount of power. I am also interested in maintaing my driveline and engine. Therefore, most of the time with the tuning was bringing power DOWN. 335rwkw was as low as we could go. We ended up at 340 and that's what my brief was to the tuner. It wanted to make a lot more - but I didn't want it.In other words, the exhaust was so free flowing that it was difficult to pull power down!!! Hopefully I'll get mine fairly soon, so at least now I have an idea of what to expect.
