Im at a loss to explain car tunes.In the recent weeks a few guys got together to have a bit of a blast on a private road. :bopp: I own a std fg turbo,one guy had a fg making almost 300rwk ,pulled along side him while travelling at 80km per hour and we both floored it at the same time all the way to 160km per hour.I was about a guard in front.Also lined up an BA turbo making 300rwk, from a standing start .He pulled a guard in front off the start but I managed to pull him in and take a slight lead until we had to back off.These cars are making 50-60rwk more than me, saw the dyno sheet on the fg,why aren't they leaving me for dead.My fg is std.It still has the std air filter in it,nothing touched.All I want to know has anyone had a tune from any high performance shop and seen a difference.Like raced it before and after the tune or are they really a waste of money?Cheers Nick

a tune is always going to make a big difference, but it just depends how much money you want to spend. im guessing your friends higher powered cars are either manual or an older 4 speed auto. with yours being six speed u have much better gear selection for the speed you are travelling. power is not everything. you will not regret getting a tune, no way !!

There is bigger differences in tunes with BA/BF cars more so than FG's.. The FG's are quite nicely tuned. And they do have a quicker responding turbo also

I've got a manual with around 340 at the wheels and a 6 speed auto with less power will chomp me, depending on the speed of the roll on of course...

I find mph at the end of the 1/4 a good indicator of my power, and that mph has increased in line with my power levels during progressive development.

As for roll-on race it can depend gear selection and overall ratio, and amount of traction that is lost when you hit it hard (lol).

Also, some cars aren't tuned as hard from 2500 to 3500, and may not come on so hard, so it may depend on the type of tune they have.

The problem is everyone I speak 2 tells dont take it there take it here . dont tell me your taking it to him no take it to this place.All I know is I will be racing my brother soon at wsid in his farking Late model camira and the bastard has already put a new computer program in his.We were going to race them stock but the *beep* is cheating already.So I need kw asap ,and he wont do anything to mine until he flogs me.But I dont want to spend thousands and still lose.Would prefer him beat me while its stock.He has got it in for me ,years ago I beat him in my xy when he owned an xa,he wants me bad.Cheers Nick
