Hello, I'm picking up my XR6 tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out a few things when it comes to mods.

I'll be doing a dyno run from stock so we'll finally know what they produce standard.

Then getting some PH4495 or 4490 (which one? I don't have plans to super/turbo this thing), a new exhaust system and some kind of CAI.

What would you recommend for the CAI?

I've read a bit on here that the F6 snorkel is good, are there any better options?

Also I'll be getting a K&N filter and then running a dyno tune and we'll see how it's progressing :)

The next plans will be fitting the push button start, GT wing, maybe the GT bonnet, cams and the underdrive.

I did a little research on this a while back mate and this is my understanding;

The pacemaker PH4490 are the headers to go with, apparently they net decent top end gains.

As for the CAI there are "better" options than the F6 snorkel ie: something from SS inductions such as the growler, but these cost ~$500+ compared to ~$80 for the F6 snorkel. I don't think there would really be much in it TBH; SS Growler vs F6 snorkel + K&N panel filter. Big advantage of the growler setup is they have a filter included as part of the CAI.

As for the cams you may or may not know that Atomic has a set for the N/A. I think they go for around $500 on ebay. Under drives can be had for a few hundred and I believe a forum member “NOS XR” sells them. The entire bolt on mods should be done BEFORE getting the car custom tuned.

To sum up, in my un educated opinion something like this would suit you best;

Pacey 4490 headers with gutted cat, going into an adapted 2nd hand XR6T exhaust (cheap cheap)

F6 snorkel + K&N filter

Under drive pulley (20% or something?)

Atomic cams

And finally get it custom tuned by a good tuner. With all that you will have a pretty potent daily for ~$3k that should run with or even pull a length on stock BA/BF T's

I hope that all helps mate, from my understanding that’s the best way to go & if I'm mistaken or have left anything out, I’m sure someone else will be able to help you out :thumbsup:

:blink:

that pretty much covers it. Just make sure you do the mods before you get it tuned or you'll just be going back there over and over to get it re-tuned. So unless you do some mods and don't plan on doing more for a while, hold off on the tune.

I'd say you would be safe running the stock tune with the extractors, induction system and underdrives, but if you do the cams I'd say get it tuned asap

Hey Jake,

Not sure if anyone told you or not, but with our cars (BFs), you cant change the CAT, it will go into LIMP mode. Thisis due to the o2 sensor, reffer to other posts for more details on this. However, feel free to get a CATbak, the cheap option is to instal a XR6T or Phoon catbak or to get one done by Xforce, Redback etc. Mines Xforce and im more than happy with it. Not very loud, very subtle but sporty. Helps when your dropping the girlfriend at her parent's house at 3am.

Anyways, have fun! be safe!

BTW, let me know how you go with the mods and what figures you end up getting.

Cheers,

Vebbers

Thanks for the advice Vebbers.

I'll order in the exhaust on monday... depending on price I might just get a 2nd hand xr6t catback.

So far the only mod to arrive is the K&N air filter so I'm looking forward to receiving the rest of the things and getting this car moving :P

I might be making this up... but I'm pretty sure it's just another pulley that goes on the front of the engine that helps supply power to a/c etc rather than the engine using it's power for it...
