KILLARNEY CRUISE

SUNDAY 11 JANUARY 2009

WHAT

Travel from Yatala to Queen Mary Falls via Boonah, then on to Killarney & Warwick and back to Brisbane

PLEASE NOTE:

One section of this cruise is on a bit of a goat track, although it is all sealed the road is very narrow, tight and undulated. If you’re vehicle is ‘dumped on its arse’ and/or has ridiculously large mags then this cruise may not be for you. Having said that you can be comforted by the fact that it will not be treated as a targa rally and if there are any hazards I’ll be the first one to find them!

Also if there is any rain about or has been a significant amount the night before then we will re-route the cruise and skip this part - possibly head straight for Warwick then on to Toowoomba. I’ll make this call if necessary by 7:00 am on the day and will send everyone a SMS, so if I don’t have your number please ensure it’s entered in the RSVP system.

MEETING AT YATALA - 8:30AM

Yatala Pie Shop - 48 Old Pacific Hwy, Yatala

Take exit 38 off the M1.

Northbound; go straight through the roundabout (second exit) and you’ll see it on your right-hand side

Southbound; right at the roundabout (fifth exit, go under the motorway), then right at the second roundabout (second exit)

THE FINE PRINT

In order for every body to have a good time, a few rules have been implemented. Failure to abide by these rules will ensure you are not invited to future events held by FordXR6Turbo.com.

The reasons for these rules are:

  • Safety - We don't want to put any of our members, and the general public in any danger.
  • Public Perception - We do not want the Ford XR6 Turbo community to face the same ridicule and stereotypes other car communities face.

The rules are simple:

  • Obey all laws whilst on the cruise; this means no speeding, no overtaking over double lines etc... Any breaches will be reported to the local police.
  • There is a designated cruise leader who will lead the way and set the correct pace for all cruise members.
  • Use the Buddy system; always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn and to make sure nobody gets lost or left behind.
  • CB Radios; if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. If you do have one, please limit chatter during the twisty parts of the cruise. This will allow the cruise leader to relay information about road conditions, upcoming obstacles, etc. efficiently.
  • By attending this cruise you agree not to hold FordXR6Turbo.com, its Administrators, Moderators, Cruise Organisers, or Owners responsible/liable for any damage and/or grief sustained (simply; if you stuff up it's your fault, not ours).

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask before the cruise.

Total distance is about 300km.

Whack your attendance in the events database Click here to sign up, and please add your mobile number and rego to make things easy. These details are only visible to myself and other mods/admins.

lol...that's the spirit ladies.

In regards to the UHFs, last few I've purchased have been through a place in WA - Prestige Communications.

They have a four pack of 0.5 watt uniden handhelds going for $83, which equates to $20.75 each. If anyone is interested in one of these then let me know and I will get them and you can give me the cash on the cruise.

If you want a stronger unit you're on your own (couldn't be f'ed), but check out their prices as they are usually pretty competitive. :spoton:

Even better, the model no. on the ones I linked to above is UH036sx-4 (assume the "-4" bit is the four pack)
