At least 95 ron and a good wash and wax, just dont get suckered into paint protection from the dealers, biggest con going.

Wow it must be getting exciting now it is so close!!!!

I have had mine for about 2 months now and loving it.

As for fuel I tend to use Premium all the time especially now that the fuel prices have gone down dramatically. I have tried normal unleaded and have noticed a large reduction in economy so have stuck with premium after that. I owned a 2005 GT before this which was premium only so having a choice now is heaven for me.

As for paint protection, it depends on who you talk to. My personal opinion is that it only creates shine to your car and with it being a new car anyway I cant really see no point in it. However it is your choice mate. My G6ET is black so I wasnt going to get it however it worked out cheaper for me to get the protection pack and window tinting than to just get the windows tinted. Dont ask me how but I got it anyway.

One thing I do recommend though is getting the leather protected. You want it to last as long as possible.

Enjoy your new ride when it arrives, great christmas present

I didn't get the paint protection, next day I gave it a good wash, polish and coat of wax, would well advise the same. Good idea to to get wax on asap to give it a layer of protection.... http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=40605 That has heaps of info on the cleaning side of things. As for fuel, I would never use anything but 98. The day before I traded my old car I couldn't even bring myself to use regular!!

Have a read of this http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14404 read the 3rd page, that's what I did. When I picked mine up it had 6k's :stirthepot: As for the leather buy some leather conditioner from any auto place, give it the treatment every 6mths, the 'leather protection packages' are just like 'paint protection', easy to do yourself for a tiny amount of the price...

Shane1122....

Mate, have a good look over the car when you pick it up, if there are any scratches, paint bubbles, or issues with the paint, make sure they write it down on the invoice and rectify them are your first service...

As for fuel, as the others have said, I as well only use 98 or 100 in my F6 and the XR5, however I believe the FG series 'may' have been tuned to run on 95 as a standard fuel... if my memory is correct, you can happily run 95+ in it without any issues! :stirthepot:

Regarding the paint protection and leather protection, even the dealer advised me it was good as an added insurance policy, however as a 'paint/leather protection' wasn't much chop....

This is what I did and still do... took about 3/4 of a day between other things but doesnt the job for me!

Hope this helps!

and congrats on the new ride!

I got full paint protection with my car, although it's still early I am pretty happy with it the only thing is I do miss getting the polishing cloth out.
