I've never had a ute before.2. they're sh*tloads cheaper then the sedan.3. the resale valve is hugh.4. I do tow a fair bit and carry sh*t around.5. I'm sick of being a taxi service for my mates.so my question to you is this, the XR8 is only about $1000 more then a turbo so it's neither here nor there in price. I don't really want to mod it as I've heard killer stories about engine melt downs and the likes, also My parents are helping my out with it, so they won't be happy if I start voiding my warrenty (I just imagine it now *a nagging tone* "we buy you a perfectly good car and you ruin it, well last time we buy you anything! blah, blah, blah, etc" to which I regularly reply with "yahuh"), besides if I want to mod either one this is the way I would go:XR6 => 10 grand should buy me 330+rwkwsXR8 => 10 grand should buy me 350+rwkws (with a blower, intercooler)so the XR8 still comes out on top.jeez, I can ramble on....ok my question is to those of you who have a XR6T or XR8 ute or both, (I believe there is someone that has both in white) what do you think of it and which is faster, more fuel effiecient, more user freindly to drive, etc....so come on try and convince to agree with your opinion.thanx,Dave. I'm not biased ... just in love B) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5255-xr6t-vs-xr8/#findComment-41327 Share on other sites

Apart from that they are virtually identical except for details already mentioned above. That's what was putting me off the ute to begin with! but the above reason are good enough to put up with it. I mean how much heavier is the Boss260 over the old Windsor?? I mean the windsor was ALL cast-iron where as the Boss has alloy heads, hollow camshafts, etc....I will probably be waiting for the series 2 now, so I might get a weight loss...also does anyone know the weight of the XR6T ute and XR8 ute??Dave. Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 07/08/03 05:28 AM Share Posted 07/08/03 05:28 AM But don't forget the heads are twice the size, have double the valve train gear, 4 (hollow) cams instead of one and all of this is higher up in the engine bay. I think?? check the ford.com.au site Dave, I reckon you should get a test drive and drive them hard ... the handling is different as chalk and cheese .....the note of the V8 hmmmm .... but it handles like sh*t IMHO Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5255-xr6t-vs-xr8/#findComment-41358 Share on other sites

I hate decisions.....I'll probabily end up with an XR8 just for the exhaust note alone.....I'm very emotional like that.....but yes, I'll go to the local ford dealer and see if he wants to give me a XR ute for a night.....thing is though I think they might be a bit relutant to give a 22 y.o a 45 grand car for 24 hours!!!!oh well if they don't I might have to buy a holden!!!!HA!!! yeah right!!!Dave.
