As you have said earlier, with a new model and no one having released any gauge pods for it, its a little bit of trial and error that will determine what works from the 'B' series...

Along with what Pat has mentioned, try fit the sandwhich plate adapter and be the first to prove it right or wrong...

By the way & I was meant to tell you earlier, the pod and unit panel look great!

Haha. Nice one Dags.

I was wondering how long it would take someone.

When I laid the first coat of 'glass I had just watched the first 2 episodes of Star Wars.

I thought it looked like the Imperial trooper helmets. :dontknow:

Any who. Here's the boost gauge I'll be running.

The BF adapter should fit, as far as I'm aware the block hasn't changed for FG, just the Head and Sump

The block is a little different, the dipstick tube goes into the block at the rear now for starters and the shape is different around that area, but the oil filter pad seems to be exactly the same, so it should work.

Well I got the pod finished today, ready for paint and disaster struck again.

http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww30/PH...17122008068.jpg

I drilled this hole to fill the cavity with expanding foam for a bit more strength.

Unfortunately the drill went a bit far.

Bugger!!! I needed to get it to the panel beaters today for paint as the painter is going on holidays tomorrow.

Unfortunately I don't have enough time to get this finished before I go on holidays and then back to work, so it'll be

mid January before it's finished.

Luckily I got some pics of it in the car and with the gauges fitted before I busted it.

It doesn't actually sit that high either.

I reckon it wouldn't be much higher than the bulge bonnet on the XR8 if at all.

haha. That's a bit more politically correct than what Dags was alluding to, I think.

It will be as close to the original top panel colour as the panel beater can get it, so hopefully it ends up with a slight metallic finish to it.

How long you been working with Fibreglass?

I use alot of fibreglass ductwork and tanks with my work ie 4.5m diameter x 12m tall plus upto 2m size ductwork. I dont hae the time at the moment to model a gauge holder in soildworks and then get a mould made, but if you can remade the mould I can get them mass produced easily.

Let me know

There was no mould. All free hand.

I used a factory top dash panel and a cheap twin gauge holder off ebay.

Screwed the gauge holder to the panel and then covered it in a stocking to get the nice flowing lines.

Then came the resin. I didn't use any mat due to my laziness in not wanting to clean it up afterwards, and the resin seemed to work well.

I finished it yesterday but it will be with my panel beater for a few weeks while I return to work.

As with my head unit surround. They both turned out quite well I reckon.

Can't wait to get the painted products in the car.

I've done a few fibreglass projects in the past. Mainly car audio sub boxes and trim panels. Bit of a hobby really, and no-one else to do it where I live.

These two will be one offs, and if I make another gauge holder I'd be looking at trying to get three smaller gauges up there.

Time will tell.
