Ive had a minor glitches with mine since the battery has been put in the boot. would crank once & die but if I keep it on it will crank fully & start up. if I let the key go & crank it again it will start first kick but it was causing it to go into a limp home mode & the speedo wouldnt work.

bjc does yours get worse when th A/C is turned on ??? mine does the same thing exactly..

Can change its pitch some times but its always there! Almost unbearable...

typhoon_freak,

I just used some non slip matting or you could use some high density foam under the battery to stop it from sliding on the plastic box.

I only received the box, 2 metal straps and the top secure strap not the base plate with rapids kit, said he didn't use them so had to drill through the floor to mount then on!

:stupid:

Also, how old is your battery? I'm guessing around 3 years old? With the longer cabling, if its ont the right size the voltage drop will become more apparent. And double check all the grounds and make sure they are solid

This is a serious job and needs to be done right, or else you'll get all sorts of probs mate, as you have, but nothing that can't be fixed up.

Always run the main cable inside the car, under the carpet, down the drivers side.

Doesnt matter what side the battery is mounted on, but I find the pasanger side is easiest for mounting.

Up at the fuse box is where it has to be done right.

Earth the cable that was on the battery, directly to the body (sand off some paint, dril a hole, use a 8mm bolt & nut)

The power cables on the fuse box, one goes to the starter motor/alternator system, the other to the battery.

Its best to cut the battery one free, and just leave the original starter/alt one as it is.

The main (+) cable now gets a L spade lug crimped and soldered on, and bolted down on the (+) post in the fuse box.

Cable should run in through the guarde, cable tied to the main loom, then pop it through the grommet of the main loom in the foot well... to the right of the fuse box.

Now in the boot, battery should be mounted dead solid, and inside a box.

Run (+) cable up to the battery, use a correct sized battery terminal clamp, crimped and soldered solid.

The earth strap needs to be solid on the battery, and mounted/bolted to the floor, again sanding paint off.

It's usually a poor earth that causes all the main issues with this kind of job.

And always use the correct sized cables and termination.

I've done laods of boot mounts over the years in circuit racers and rally cars, its not a hard job, just has to be done 100% right.

There's also lots of factory cars with boot mounted batteries... Jags, BMWs, VE Late model camira ect.

ok... well iv done exactly that pretty much rapid.. ran the wires thru the same root as the wires towards the ecu in the car.. and along the footrest.. blah blah to boot.. it terms of speaking... I pretty much straped 5m of red battery cable to the two red cables and ran that to the boot... and straped 5m of black battery cable to the negatives that used to be on the body and ran that to the boot.. the battery is fine in the boot and the terminals are good.. not to sure when the battery was last changed.. but mite see with a new battery.. should I have not ran the black wire thru? or does this not matter.. since last night.. iv taken it to work and home.. and first push of the button.. it feels like it dies then I push again and wah lah it starts.. somtimes I can hold it down and after 3-4 turns it starts... so should I just earth the black cable in the boot? what do I do with the black cables in the engine bay?
