my mate has a sluch fund, ANY money that he makes from cash or otherwise, any money that is left in a pocket, any he finds etc etc goes into the slush fund. At last count he had close to 10k in it and that is where all his play money comes from. Any track day, semi slicks, parts, pretty much comes out of that except he is smart and takes a little money out of the bank account so that she thinks it costs heaps less than it does.

Me, got no money to spend so don't have nothing to hide.

I do this all the time, ive got a little stash and top it up every so often. I take out say $120 from the ATM for fuel and only put in $50 worth- pocket the rest. If I do something and tell her half the price so she doesnt crack it to badly..lol.

A few months back I blew the auto,so I told her no one has a cheap one to replace it with and convinced her the only thing I can do is build a C9 3 speed and put a disappointed look on my face.

$7500 later- done, she wasnt to happy but now all forgotten.

She came out with me the other week and looked confussed when I had to change gears, especially selecting reverse and told me I should of spent more and got a proper one :msm:

Another one ive told her is I won a part(intercooler) etc on a competition I entered on the web.

Things we do.....lol

You can justify something if you do it once, but try justifying 3 intercoolers... "Umm the last one can't handle anymore power babe..." reply being "Why have you got more power?!" and that's when you come unstuck. I find a big outlay on the car is fixed by a small outlay on the other half...

I remember being there when my mate convinced his missus he needed a $3000 locker because it would be "unsafe" to drive around in the rain with an open wheeler! :crossjerk: He went right into the dynamics and workings of open diffs vs lockers and she lapped it up (even though she no idea what he was talking about) because she thought he was being sensible for a change! I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth!

I have found, the less they know about cars the better. Ignorance is bliss. Like when I get dragged into a handbag shop!

Mate we need to communicate a bit...I came unstuck with the same conversation last week. I bought some pole position pretty bits and told her about them and the cost, at the same time I bought a process west plenum. I forgot to tell her about the plenum, then when she saw my engine bay I told her that the plenum was one of those $100 pretty bits....I am now stuck with 2 problems 1. I have to explain why the car needs a re tune after adding a fuse box cover and 2. why it has taken me a couple of weeks to fit the fuse box cover.....

Well, you say its going in for service. They are going to do a full safety check because you want to know that when you go on a trip with her that everything is going to be ok

Good Luck :smilielol:

just say you had a nice long chat with Cindi and she said it was a good idea to fit said parts

Any questions about parts / cost will be forgotten in the ensuing discussion about Cindi
